Modified sounds ?
« on: January 17, 2010, 03:42:47 AM »
I've been thinking about if it would be legal to modify the sounds. I wanna but my own sounds that i made but I wanna know, first, if it's legal.

I had the same idea, but then if you modify the volume it could be (maybe not) an advantage.

But it would be the same if i put my sound to max, it's an advantage. And sometimes people play without sound so.

At a competitive level sound is a huge advantage.  I can tell where someone is coming from just by sound.

I'm not talking about the whole volume but just some sounds.

Anyway, I just want to change the "rounds beginning" sounds and the end of map sounds (and maybe the sound when someone die but it will affect gameplay a bit too ?). So, in my opinion changing these 2 would be legal. So i'll wait for a commitee member to answer me maybe.

Full volume sounds like round start and map end sounds are OK to modify.  Positional sounds like footsteps and gun shots are not.

Well then you might want to take a look at whatever sound pack spook gave to reaver and everyone else, because the footsteps are so clear and loud you can tell where anyone is at.

So I can actually change the start round and end map sound without getting detected ? Or I will get detected but will have to prove ? And JiGSaW yes, these aren't legal. So you might, if you have the link, pm jitspoe and send him the link, and, if you know, tell who downloaded.

It's probably just sounds from older builds of dp to be used with the new build.

What my sound pack is, is all the gun sounds/movements, with ALL of the extra nonsense sounds in blank .wav files.
