OTB Speed down to 24 max?!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

This is horrible. OTB Speed is my favorite server because it's so exciting having so many players on it. It used to allow a maximum of 28 players, which was usually enough, but sometimes you had to wait a while to get in. Now, their maximum players is at 24  . Now, anyone will have to wait FOREVER just to get in, and it won't be as fun since there can't be as many players. ub_cliff was extremely fun when there were 28 players on it, the chaos was awesome.

I hope there's some kind of explanation for this, because this had better be temporary. I've opened up my web browser, logged into this site, and created this entire topic, WHILE waiting to get into OTB Speed, and still haven't got in. This is awful.

We have some problems with a very high cpu load atm. So the server has a lot of lags with so much players. It works much better with 24 players, but i hope we can change it back to 28 public slots soon.

Why don't you just get a good server that can handle 100 slots and have 50v50 on the smallest map in DP?

This game is made for only 16 players. If jitspoe or anyone else optimise the server, we can make it to celebrate the 20th game birthday. I don't think, anyone would make a stable 100 players server before.
A 20 players server has around 17% cpu load and a 28 players server around 30% on an Intel Xeon E5520. So there is a lot of work.

I think it would be best if the settings were set to 0 slots.  This would produce the highest optimization level for the cpu load, and create a better quality product for paintball.

I agree with Olbaid, but it seems to me what you need is a new CPU.  Quit this cheap crap and get an i7 extreme to solve your problems.

Didn't OTB Speed use to have 32 slots?

It was at 32 slots at the beginning. The 28 slot limit is since one or two years.

I can turn of the speed server, but i think another server admin don't need more than 30 minutes and there is a new one online.

U think the wrong way. Why should i shut down a full server? Make the other servers more attractive.

Well, I'm glad to know that it isn't your fault, and that you guys are working hard to fix it. Thumbs up for you guys. Sorry if I sounded harsh, I just wish 28 slots was still available, even though it may not be possible.

One would think that with technology improving at such a high level, there would be more a server could handle, not less. Just do what you can OTB, and beyond that, it's not your fault.

I would like to say thank you to OTB's for having OTB speed, I've had a lot of great times on that server.

They could spend $2,000+ on a good computer to run the server.  Technology can handle it, their wallets can't.

I don't think there's too many interest in renting q2 servers, so why should they invest in it?

Also, look at AA3 - there are hosters like hosters.at, i3d and alike who have top machines and game still lags like hell when server fills up because of bad net coding. So it's not server side issue.

Wouldn't taking down [OTB] Soccer make it possible to have more slots for [OTB] Speed? Or or even take down the [OTB] Classic server? Just possibilities...

Kyu you are really posting just for the sake of posting or you think you are actually helping here? He said he cutted em because of lags, not because of slots.

The soccer and classic servers are almost empty, so they don't really need cpu power.

All OTB servers are running now with build 29 and the player limit on the speed server is back to 28.
