BUG: CONTROLLING 2 PLAYERS AT ONCE
« on: March 22, 2010, 09:33:57 AM »
I was just playing abit of dp during my break between classes.  I connected to 3iob pub and somehow it added me in twice.  Whenever i typed a message both of the players would say it.  When i connected the map was on propaint1, I didn't notice until I killed the copy of myself.  It was accepting all the commands that the player I was seeing on my screen was (moved left when i moved left moved right when i moved right...).  Map ended shortly after that and I recorded a short demo on castle1 after.

Only need to watch 1st minute or so of the demo, it shows what i'm talking about.  The rest of the demo i was just running around trying to find the copy of myself like I did in PP1, but eventually DP just crashed.

I've played many times at school.  This only started to happen around the time I made the 1st post.

Ok, I nominate this for bug of the year.  I'm surprised that can happen.  I guess it's treating it as two different clients connecting from the same IP.  The server distinguishes between clients like that by using random number.  I would expect one of two clients with the same number to be dropped, but I guess somehow you sent two connection requests, got the same number assigned to both, and the server spawned two clients with the same number, and looped through and applied the same inputs to both.  That must have looked hilarious from an observer's perspective with your synchronized jumping.
