NEED HELP: Wireless Router Problem.
« on: April 28, 2010, 10:15:22 AM »
Ugh.

So, I'm trying to setup a Router for a laptop that I have.
The laptop is a Satellite A215-S4817.

I've done everything I could Possibly do. It says on the laptop,  that I'm connected and that I'm getting Full Signal.

Only thing connected to the Router is this P.o.s laptop.

I can't Browse Worth excrement. Any help would  be great.

THANX GUIZ.

P.s: The Router is a Belkin G Wireless Router.

Uhm, through Belkin's website? Or what? =D

Wait, DNS? My ISP didn't give me a Dns? Isn't that what they're supposed to do?

I'm Slow when it comes to routers, and all that kind of mess.

Wait, do you have other PCs going through the router that work?

Yes. I have this computer that I'm on now. Which would be the Main Computer. Used for Gaming and such.

And than my Laptop, for whatever.

So the main computer is connected to the router by wire and works? And the laptop is the only wireless device trying to connect? Check your wireless adapter settings and make sure everything is obtained automatically in the tcp/ipv4 (unless you use a different setting) Try using the 'diagnose/repair' option for your connection.   Those are things for the laptop, I wouldn't know for the router, since I've never used a belkin.

Yes. Everything is setup correctly. When I first Got it hooked up, 2 months ago? It ran fine. And than I disconnected it. Stopped using the laptop. Connected it again, and now I can't even Browse The Internet. Says, Page is Currently unavailable. Everything You mentioned I've got set already, and have tried. Hmmm, not sure.

Any other help would be appreciated.

Well? Anybody got a Clue as to what it could be?

I was  thinking maybe it was a Driver issue? But it worked before, and doesn't seem to work now.... Not sure.

reset the router, prob has a reset button. first of all try plugging it in directly with a wire. your default gateway should be something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 if you enter that into a web browser it will take you to your router control panel. first thing i would recommend you do is see if you can do a firmware upgrade.

http://www.belkin.com/support/product/?lid=en&pid=f5d7230-4&scid=221

also make sure your ip address is set to auto assign and your dns address.

you do this by going into control panel, change the view to advanced. network connections right click on the wireless connection and go to properties.
and in the little window go to internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
select properties of that window. make sure obtain ip automatically and obtain dns server address automatically.

also at times if you are using dsl it could be the modem and router conflicting or requiring login.
