It's possible to do, but is it worth the effort?

No..  you keep thinking of weird stuff that doesn't matter.  You just need to worry about the important things, like..

1) stand alone conversion.  keep it the same, let us play it seperate of q2.
2) cheat detection
3) end heat-seeking grens.  You know they are, stop denying it!
4) friendly fire pistols - this is more for me.  End the life of stupid teamates.  Permbans them from server when they get shot with it (aka. dead)

LOL taht would be funny....

i though of this though... random teams after each round.... cause i see it more time then none. ppl that are 'good' go all on the same team and they slap the newbies on the other team. im usually on whatever team i dont care as long as i play. but getting owned all the time in each round is not fun. so every time u spawn for a new round.... u might be on a new team..... no?

q3 models would be cool.. I notice that in freeze tag people can change the model heads and bodies around.. so orbs head on xero's body.. so they would be nice to have but not really nessacary

DUDE this is an old thread but anyway Q3 models... if you did you would have to use only humanoid ones like Sarge or Razor
oh and what ever happened to the female models coz i know a few women who play proper PBall, my g/f for one. it might be a female dog to do but some UT2003 models would look great if not for the high polycount. Although a few thing about DP are still unrealistic the speed for a start a bit too fast have you ever thought about a different damage system like freezing for 5-10 seconds when shot and shots to arm and legs don't count only head and torso(These are only ideas in mine and others heads).

Actually, I like the DP player models. You know, the big ugly grunt ones with coloured smocks from Quake2. I liked those. They were really easy to see. I think they should be put back into the standalone version :)

Ok, to clear a few things up:
a) We wouldn't actually use models from Quake3, only the model format.
b) The original Q2 player model can't be used becasue it's copyrighted.

I'm only going to use one model system.  I figured if I go about making a new model, it might be better to use the quake3 format, but now that just seems to be more work than it's worth.
