Dubstep
« on: May 04, 2011, 08:17:48 PM »
ViciouZ keeps going on about dubstep, so I'm curious what some good examples of the genre are.  I've poked around a bit, and everything sounds pretty similar to Mr. Oizo's Flat Beat.

lol, I was just thinking how people who comment on dubstep videos on youtube really love their dubstep when I saw this:

Quote
I love how people expess their feeling of dubstep. Most comment have to do with jizzing yourself....if this is true i dont think i wanna go to a dubstep concert.

Enjoy the music people! No-one wants to hear the comment about your penis that you copied from the comments on some other dubstep song!

Flux Pavilion - I can't stop
Doctor P - Sweet Shop
Circus Records are pretty darn good for this kinda stuff.

Skrillex - Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites - you may well have heard it
Skrillex's Remix of Cinema by Benny Benassi
Skrillex has his own kinda dinosaur bass.

Caspa - Well 'Ard

Benga - Man On A Mission

Magnetic Man have a few good tracks as well, what with being composed of 3 legends and all.

everything sounds pretty similar to Mr. Oizo's Flat Beat.
Depending on where you look there's a fair amount of variation, although it is true that youtube is very fond of song with large wobble bass drops, mainly so they can comment about how the song is filthier than xyz :)

I listen to pretty much everything ViciouZ said. Although I actually listen to everything from reggae and whatnot to dubstep.

Nero - Guilt
Deadmau5 - Ghosts N' Stuff (Nero Remix)

Might not be what you're looking for but I just like Chase and Status alot.
Chase & Status - Flashing Lights (Feat. Sub Focus & Takura) -- Their work with Plan B (<3) is pretty cool.

So I was curious about the wobble bass stuff and started tinkering in FL Studio with a free synth VST called Synth1.

Kind of fun to play around with.
