Newmap : Don't make it a provar (Beta 4)

So i finally found some time to finish my another map.
Name: Don't make it a provar
Progress: Beta 4
Flags: 2 flags for each side (frist flag(with cap) 5points, second flag 6points)
Teams: Blue + Red
Cap:On the first flag
Mode:Probably 3s needs some testing

Nice map, good job :) It's quite a large map so i'd say 3s or more, probably bit too big for 2s. Nice variety of jumps etc and nice lighting on low, although it's maybe a little crowded low route, perhaps too many boxes etc, but overall nice map.

Thanks, glad you like it. I guess you are right i will try to have a look on low.
Also Selda already suggested me some updates so i will be releasing b2 soon, I hope.

Map looks good. I really like the VIS blocking structure of it :D

Some stuff for the next betas...

Use "gamemode" "4" instead of "gametype" "4" to fix the warning while loading the map ingame.

Maybe you could add 1 or 2 more player spawns for each team, to make the spawns less predictable.

Btw. I'm not sure if low is a little bit too crowded, because it seems that this route is the shortest and fastest route from flag to flag. I think that should be tested ingame with a few players.

Red: Rotate texture.


Red: Small edges, it's below the main flag.


Red: This brush is a little bit too wide at the front


Blue: I'd add clip brushes here.


Red: The texture rotation is looking a little bit weird here. There're some more passages where the texture rotation is looking weird a little bit.


Blue: You need to move this red barrel down a little bit.
Green: I think it would be cool if players could go there. It's a little bit too small at the moment.


Red: This plank is almost flying :) Maybe you can change the plateau a little bit.


Red: Rotate texture.


Green: I'd like to see clip brushes here, too.


Green: One more clip brush.
Red: I'd make the wood brush less thick here, that there're no edges at the endings.


Green: Misaligned texture.

-Everything chef pointed out
-Added speed jump on mid (by selda)

To fix:
-I kept low be as it is, waiting for ideas :)

The walls look to all be the same height.
Are the floor all flat also?
All the walls, except the slanted holes in the walls, look like they are just straight up and down...no angularity to them.

Just thoughts from looking at the screens.

Yes the walls are all same height, if I made different height it would be pretty difficult to make sky there right. Also the walls are straight up and down (I might be improving this, but its a lot of work and I dont have that much time now)
I make non-flat floor only where it is necesary. I dont like maps like pbcup_sassault, because of loosing control on this type of terrain (this might change thanks to new update).

Yellow lines = The outline of the shaded area at the middle of the map, showing that the Red side of mid has more of an advantage of being unseen. Again its not really fair.

Good points, I will fix it for next beta

Edit:Just checked it again, man there are no barrels there :D. Its just paint problem. The first red circle from the left hand side is just red brush under flag, and the second from left hand side is just a paint bug caused by dark colors i guess. But good point about that yellow border thing.
The name sucks, looks alright though.
Agree, not satisfied with its name neither but its not the worst I hope. Couldnt come up with anything smart, but wanted to already release the map. Thanks tho ;)

Fixes:
-changed lighting a bit so now it doesnt provide other team advantage (at least I hope :P)
-aligned 1 more texture
-added few details to mid roof

To fix:
-Low - so I am probably keeping it as it is?

Now you have "gamemode" "4" and "gametype" "4", so the bad field warning still appears while loading the map ingame. Deleting the wrong key/value pair should fix it.

One more thing I didn't notice before are the barrels. They have a diameter of more than 48 units. It looks that the top and bottom textures are a little bit too small for these barrels. You might scale up the top and bottom textures a bit or use a diameter of 48 units for them.


Green: This brush is a little bit too small.
