cl-gun 0
« on: December 18, 2011, 10:17:23 PM »
So I don't like seeing my gun at all, and use cl-gun 0. Every time I close PB and re-open it, I have to type it in again. It doesn't get saved in my settings, I even tried saving it in my config files, didn't work. Any ideas?

Does it actually save into the config and just doesn't work ingame? Try to execute it from the console.

1. Have you made the paintball folder or some part of it "hidden" or "read only"?
2. Did you mistype it in the config like you did on this thread?
3. Did you edit the right config?
4. Have you been playing the jump mod? You have to disconnect normally before a setting will be saved. When you enter the jump mod, the setting you changed while in paintball won't be saved.

EDIT: Oh, you're right. Just tried cl_gun out and it does reset itself.

Also try running paintball.exe as administrator if you use Win Vista/7.
cl_gun 0 is working for me without any problems.

I'm not quite sure but you could try "seta cl_gun 0", I think that solved the problem for me.

After you do the command in-game, type "/writeconfig autoexec.cfg" in the console.

Couldn't you just use "hand 2" and make it center handed? or are you trying to be able to change hands but still not see the gun?

I put it in the config and it didn't work. But I just tried seta command and it saved... strange, I could have sworn I tried that already.

use the "hand" cmd to put it in the center and you wont see it anymore much easier.

lol, you don't see the point of this thread...

a command won't work in his case because he wants to use cl_gun 0 without having to type it into console.(same thing with hand 2)

and the fact that hand does change the position from where the balls shoot out... i do however prefer hand 2.

I preffer hand 2 as well, but I also like to see my gun. I have a script on my computer that makes it so that it switches to hand 2 when I'm shooting and hand 3 when I'm not.

But the crosshair is still not completely accurate. Why don't they make it like in Quake 3 and 4 where it always shoots at the crosshair?

The inaccurate crosshair is one of my pet peeves. It's a small one though.

The ball has an arc due to gravity and also can curve in different directions to simulate real paintball flight.  There is no crosshair that will be accurate for every distance.  You just have to use the crosshair as a reference point and realize that you need to lead and/or aim above targets at a distance.

Makes sense, but could it be possible to make it shoot from the center regardless of what you have hand set to?
