Helicopter
« on: February 09, 2012, 12:24:01 PM »
I´ve been thinking about making a helicopter, but I haven´t figured how yet. Is it posible to make object rotating and moving in the same time?

Yes and no. It is possible, but not with paintball. The lazarus mod (src) can do it (like other very nice things).

If you're talking about the rotors, I think you'd be better off making a texture + rscript that made them spin.  The brush could be stationary.

I am not experienced with writing rscripts at all..What is this lazarus mode and is it useful for paintball maps?

I made a BlackHawk for the Back to Karkand reverse Seige map I made, but never finished.
You started at the hotel base with the flag and had to carry it to the chopper.
The blades rotated and everything.

It's around one of my hard drives somewhere.

I downloaded this lazarus and there are few sample maps and in one there is a helicopter, but in paintball the body flies separately from the blades, which are rotating still on the same place...It would be cool if someone experienced with rscrpits should do rotating texture, this could be pretty fun to have in maps.

Just so you know...
You don't have to make four thin blades wizzing around the top of the helo.
If you make four wide '\/' shaped blades that are slightly transparent and blurry and rotated them slowly, but used sound to give the illusion of a chopper in full flight it would give the best effect imho!!!

Good luck!

Come to think of it you could do this with one big round thin cylinder on to of the chopper using a rotating texture of wide blurry transparent blades with some ghosting in between.

You MUST have sound to go with it or you suck
