First time Mapping - Need some help
« on: March 10, 2012, 10:22:57 PM »
Hello,

First of all, I'd need help on how to fix this:

My BSP folder is set in C: Where do I have to add the folder inprogress ?

Also, how do you make/what's the easiest method to make lands look like those in zpar:

Thanks for your help in advance.

Your first problem is very common.  If you go to your paintball folder, c:/games/paintball2/pball/maps
you will see a file named "inprogress".  Delete it and create a folder called "inprogress" instead.

For your second question the easiest way would be to use a terrain generator.  Some mappers might frown upon this, but it probably beats spending hours doing it brush by brush.

Your best bet is probably the clipping plane tool.  Shift+right click and you can plot down up to 3 points for a plane.  Just start off with a big block, then slice off the angles you want to be hills.

Or to get a clearer picture... Cuso's Video on Clipping planes. Simple after you do it a few times: http://youtu.be/2QgOb4fdmE4

Thanks, both of you. Managed to make the inprogress folder working properly.

Although, for Cuso's video, I guess I'll have to watch it more than 1 time to understand it properly ;)

I prefer triangle brushes over Clippinggggggggggg.

Here's the map file of 'Unrated's Big Penis'. Might help...

Ignore the water/under water terrain. ;)

Dayummmmmm, thats an old video.  I might make and upload a more updated version, preferably one that doesn't require you to read absurdly small text and would cover more/better techniques :P ;) :) (face)
