Date: 08.04.2012
Time: 18:00 CEsT (18 for germany, 17 for uk, 19 for finland)
Maplist: airtime, ub_cliff, shazam33
Server settings: respawn 15 seconds, elim game mode, timelimit 10, crouchsliding 1, otherwise normal match. I haven't signed any papers yet, but we will probably use iceys servers

Yeahhh, another timetravelers cup! This time no clans can enter. Only players. Players with more experience, who want to become the captains, will pick themselves two teammates for the cup, from the sign up list. The picking will take place just before the tournament.

The maplist is as simple as possible, to reduce the importance of recon. The respawn time is 15 seconds to increase the amount of time everybody can be shooting at eachother. The game mode is ELIM so everybody shoots at eachother.

Sign up here. If your forum name doesn't equal the name you are most known ingame, then please add the name you want to sign your self up with. Also, add your country, please. If you want to be a team captain, then write that here as well.

As this cup is a decent way to introduce inexperienced players to tournaments, then I would thank everybody who would go through the effort and do their best at promoting this cup! Advertise ingame, invite your friends, get old players to play again. Whatever, let's make it big!

***Captains job***
Captains are responsible for their team. After the teams are picked and locked (by blaa) it is captains duty to get their members to the correct server and explain the rules/settings if there are questions. Therefore, the captains must understand the rules/settings clearly themselves. I would suggest to make a temporary IRC channel for your pickup-team for the cup and invite your team members there. All information can be then shared in that channel.

Nice try to get some newbies into the game but according to the page not a whole lot signed up. So why not making it a lil bit more standart? CTF, 60 Respawn on 3 other maps ( well shz33 is okay) or Elim 20-30 seconds respawn with max 10min playtime per map. It's much more fun to play some good players in the ordinary way, than playing them in Speed Pub fashion, which is basically the reason why I ( and lots of others) don't play pub anymore. Or Maybe even try something like a european pickup? Playing the american counterpart is extremly annyoing due to the latency (even if I ping quite good).
What I'm trying to say is, that I'm not gonna sign up (and as a result, commit to participate) as long as it keeps this way. But I would play if I have nothing to do then

Seems like it will be difficult to win a round in straight up elimination mode if the respawn is 5 seconds. You'd have to eliminate the entire team in 5 seconds. You'd almost have to resort to spawn camping and keep killing people repeatedly until they're all dead in the same 5s period to win.

Now that I come to think of, I agree. Don't know what I was thinking when I removed flags and set respawn to 5 sec :p. Respawn set to 15 seconds.

If you dont mind i would try live streaming and comentating it (never did it before, i am gonna suck as hell in it but i wanna try it

). Because i would like to get some practice for an cup which viateam would like to setup sometime in June (something bigger with decent prices like ggl was). So what do you say?

Come IRC some evening, lets talk about how we could this in the best possible way.

Also, as the format of the cup relies heavily on the amount of players, who sign up, so I can't publish the format right now. I'm thinking about having 1 groups, if we get less than 6 teams. 2 groups if we get 6-10 teams. Everybody would play everybody in groups, and play-offs would follow.
If we don't get an amount that divides with 3, then we could have some teams that have 4 players. The one player would act as an subsitute, and if 2 teams who have 4 players match eachother, then of course, they would 4v4 instead of 3v3.
Sound good?

I'm thinking about reducing the timelimit. Two reasons for that:
1) shorther length of the tournament. If you have to play 3-5 matches, then it takes ~70-110min, add play offs and you get a 2-3 hour tournament. I think the tourny should be ~2h maximum. And maybe grand final a little later, especially if it gets shout casted.
2) the gameplay might get monotonous, and it would be just boring to play it 20 minutes in a row.
10 min timelimit? 15?

Oh, and map picking is done as usual. Eliminating. 3 maps in the mappool, each team eliminates one. Play the one remaining. It is captains job, again, to explain members how the map picking works and work out the map they don't want to play prior to the game, so the map eliminating process takes as little time as possible.

Added ***Captains job*** to the original post. Includes suggestions how captains should run their team during the cup. It is important to me that the captains are capable or taking care of their team during the cup, because then I won't have to babysit every player throughout the cup.

Also, are there any players in the current sign up list, who would like to be a captain?

10 minute time limit sounds good, especially with the current respawn times, seems like intense play for a shorter while.
