No, it's a normal rectangle brush with the same, normal texture on all 6 sides. No surface edits, either.

Sometimes that happens due to a bug in the vis program.  Does it only happen when you vis?  If it's a brush that doesn't really block visibility, I'd suggest setting it to detail (+Det button).  Otherwise, you might just have to rearrange some brushes until the problem goes away.

I have a problem with my next map, New York. It's a very large, open map with a 360 panorama view of the entire map from the top of a skyscraper. Basically, it's a "technical" mapper's nightmare. I'm hoping to mirror the part present now to make the map twice as large! But unfortunately, BSP does not seem to be advanced enough to handle such a large, complex map.

Anyway, my problem is that it says, "leaked" when I can't see any leak. Can someone please help me? I've attached my .map file.

P.S. Can someone also help me use "hint" brushes effectively? I'm confused about them.

Hint brushes don't really help if your map has a large and open area. You can influence the vis export with them if your vis blockers doesn't work well, but you can't replace vis blockers with hint brushes to get a large open area.

Did you try the leak check in bsp to find the leak? I can have a look at it tomorrow.

Yup I tried brush->leak check, and file->load leak file, but neither of those solved the problem. Bsp crashed every time I tried to load the .lin file.

You can try this bsp for the leak check.
ftp://otb-server.de/pub/BSP%20-%20Map%20Editor/BSP_setup.exe

Btw. what about a nice sun lighting?

It's nighttime, the sun's not out.

I'm working on making my map smaller. The skyscraper will only be 3 stories, the brick buildings will be shortened, and the map will be more compact.

Hm...didn't look at the map ingame, I just noticed that the sky texture has light setting, but there's no sun lighting. If it's a night map, adding light textures would look a lot more realistic.

OK, I'll try it out and see if it looks more realistic.

write out your message in the funname menu and save it as your name, copy paste it from your config into your wordldspawn message. there is quite a tight limit, and the compiler might choke on some characters, but you can work around that.

you cant.
