Make the room fill with water so you drown...user FUNC_WATER

make a "Star Wars" trash compactor

Teleport you to a killzone

etc

ooh! Add my vote to supertanker's idea right there. Also Quake 2 had some neat traps you may want to bring back in your maps, such as entering a room, stepping on a trigger that lowers the ceiling slowly and closes the door, and then having to shoot (or in dpball's case you could make it far away in this room so that you have to run to it and press it) the button on the wall opposite to the entrance to open a hole in the floor for an escape before you are crushed.

I really don't like this map... It makes it a game based on luck and memorization instead of skill and what it's normally based on. ;)

What would be really cool would be random teleporters, or having them change destination in some sort of rotation so it would be like counting cards to know where it'll bring you. Actually I think most maps are like this, you memorize all the secrets to the map and then the people with more experience on the map conquer it compared to newcomers to the map.
