Clan Already Existing Help
« on: June 15, 2013, 03:53:45 PM »
Hi DP community,

For some reason, whenever I try to create a clan, it doesn't work, because it says "Clan/Clan Tag already exists" even after I check if that clan name/tag is available or not. Please help me! D:

K.

Clan Name: Good Times
Clan Tag: [xD]
(I checked this one many times, didn't exist in the clans list)

Next thing shows up:

Clan/Clan Tag already exists.

I think the name is ok but you have to change the tag, cause the "xD" is a part of some clantags.

No it means someones used that clan tag in the past. Then they have left the clan making that clan tag worthless. No one can use it. Unless the leader rejoins the clan makes you leader and then you can have that clan tag but you cant change the name of the clan. You have to stick with whatever it says. It could be :

Name: chinese smileys
Clan tag : [XD]

Hope this helped.

The real problem is why don't inactive clans get removed or set aside and unlocked for other people to use?

Currently, the clan names tags are checked for duplicates by alphanumeric characters, so if you had ".ClanX." registered, somebody else couldn't come along and register something like ".ClanX," to spoof it.  Many of the 1-2 letter tags are taken already.  In this case, though, since the clan was created in 2007 by somebody who has never played under his account, I've just deleted the clan.
