Forums Account Misuse
« on: July 04, 2013, 12:23:33 AM »
Hey all,

I've noticed some people register a forums account without actually playing the game. (They may have a different name on their dplogin account, but I highly doubt it.)
Anyway, these types of profiles have NOTHING in them but their website. Honestly, I think their just trying to promote their businesses by spreading and advertising them on other websites, such as this one.

Like this one:

  Summary - oyun                                                                                                          Picture/Text

I just think it's a pointless use of a forums account and that these types should be deleted or something.

Thanks.

Also unused accounts should be deleted from forums and dplogin after a year maybe? Or two? Cause that accounts take some nice nicknames that other people could use.

Anyway it's not the point of this topic. I just agree with LaZeRs :P

So if people have an account they don't (actively) use, how does that annoy you?
Don't really see your point.

Just they are taking nicknames and then you see nick with numbers and other.. also it's a bit annoying when u're trying to make an account and all names you try are already taken.
On the other side it helps to keep database clean and  doesn't make forum's stats fake ("user that doesn't use his account is not user in my opinion).

The only problems I see with accounts are:
-bots
-Multiple Accounts (eg. Snood is Sequal).

When somebody notifies me of these, or I happen to notice them, I ban the IP and email and delete the account.  I've taken just about every measure feasible to prevent spam bots from registering.  I think the accounts like this that are registered are actually real people paid to increase site search rankings.

Setting up something to automatically delete accounts is just another one of those things that's on the "nice to have, but I'll probably never get around to it" list.  It's also dangerous, as it might potentially delete legit users.  I'm not a fan of automatic deletion.  One wrong setting or a small bug could screw everything up!

Well, I think you're right. That might be dangerous.
But if you delete manually that type of accounts it's all right too :)

These accounts exist to read forum topics ,(ex: forum banned, i used to do this on my college forums when i used to get banned everytime when i made fun of people :) ) oyun means in turkish ''game'' and mainly you should track his IP because he could be a multi'er.

You might better send Jitpsoe a PM with those profiles. He will probably not delete them instantly (due to his limited time), but at least they're saved somewhere. I don't think he's going to check this thread every day.
