[bug?] Paintball2 refuses to start lan server
« on: April 27, 2015, 06:30:22 AM »

plz help!!  :'(

Every time I try to start a PB2 LAN server, it keeps on spamming in the console:

WARNING: msg overflowed for thegreatestminer
SZ_GetSpace: overflow

P.S. i get a black screen instead of the game.

EDIT: Thanks for all the help guys! I did all of the things you recommended me to do and it worked! I can make LAN games again! (TOPIC CLOSED FOR FURTHER DISCUSSION)

I had the same problem. I restarted my PC, reinstalled Pb2, restarted the router+modem and the problem got fixed. If my solution doesn't work, than it is a bug.

Did you spawn a lot of bots in your previous LAN server then disconnecting without removing them?

Did you spawn a lot of grenades for each team? (e.g. 30 gren instead of just 2)

umaster, you should try disabling capslock. Also, I doubt that the router is the problem since he is connecting to the localhost.
@thegreatestminer: You are trying to have paintball act as server and as client at the same time, right? Have you tried running a dedicated server instance of paintball and connecting to that?

Even if he is connecting to the localhost, if the router (ofc if he uses one) is misconfigured, it can cause problems

But not local. And thats what we try to solve here (at first).

Try typing the following commands after launching a server:

removebot all
PaintGrens 2
SmokeGrens 1

You might need to quit and re-launch the server, but that should cover most of the common causes of overflows.
