I have 3 feature requests which can bring this game on higher matchmaking level and can actually show all players individual skills and their imagination/outplays in matches. It would be really great if these features can be implemented into build 41. Features: smoke grenades update, chasing people [spectating cameras] in matchmaking servers, rate of fire - autococker, carbine. This thread is about chasing people [spectating cameras] in matchmaking servers.

Digital Paint: Paintball 2 is a one hit/kill game. If you hit enemy once they will die. In matchmaking servers it is really easy to handle/defend base on your own from grabbing flags by enemy team even in 1 vs 3 situations. You got recon where all enemies are, so you can predict what they will do, where they will jump and just basically line that place and do simple tripple kill or kill them one by one.

In matchmaking servers, spectating cameras OF ENEMY TEAM should be turned off. So in matchmaking servers you can only spectate your own team mates.

This feature will actually bring team tactics into this game, it will show everybodys performance and what is their TRUE skill level, how they can outplay enemy or not. This will bring matchmaking servers on higher level and this game will be a lot better.

Please stop focusing on bots or other features and start implementing features which can make this game better in next build number 41.

In the Kill-Cam feature vote, jitspoe already stated that he likes the idea of dampening the effectiveness of recon, so tactical positioning plays more of a role, but that he is afraid of players complaining, see http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=11176.msg113312#msg113312

I feel like a lot of people don't get that there is a reason why jitspoe focuses on bots. They are on top of the feature vote list and many results from uninstall surveys show that new players don't stick around because they are missing a good offline training / singleplayer mode. It's not like he just does the bots to annoy everyone. Also, if you help him finish the bots he will have time to do whatever you want him to do.

I'm not talking about kill-cam, I'm talking about turning off enemy-cam when you are dead, so you can't spectate enemy, but only your teammates - like in CS:GO. Much bigger potential for great outplays - depends on your brain + much bigger potential for team tactics when enemy don't know what you want to do, so you can take positions and start tactics.

+ I'm talking about matchmaking servers only, not public.

I'm totally on your side on this one, I just wanted to point out what jitspoe thought about something similar so you could maybe try to find something to convince him :).

Maybe we could also have this as an opt-in server setting, so teams could decide before a match and then play with or without spectation of enemies - whatever they like more.

I do not try to convince anybody. I bring the fact, that this feature will be 100 % better when it will be implemented into matchmaking servers. This game got updates, but only one big update was physics after b38? I don't remember. It should be changed. These features what I wrote can actually make the game A LOT better. In games like CS:GO are nerfing guns, awp - u can't run with it, cuz it's too OP when running and one hit killing. In League of legends, they reducing dmg on some abilities on champions when it's too OP, they updating maps [CS GO], summoners rift [LoL], nades, smokes [cs go], etc. etc.

I think, this game needs updates - features like this. So you can actually use team tactics, or even your brain in this game.

I think this idea could change the game for the better drastically. Like a ridiculous amount. It is however a huge change and it would take a while to get used to, as all of us are used to/comfortable with the reconing cameras as they are now. I would agree on the idea to make it a server setting that could be turned on or off, that way we could almost have two different styles of matching before the community decided what it liked best.

This feature is already implemented. Try cvar_set chasecamonly 1.

For discussions about this cvar just search the forum.

The DPMatchReserve tool allows you to set chasecamonly. As many hosts use this webinterface, you should be able to set that cvar on many matchservers, if that is what you want to point out.

I think this thread shows that we finally need to set up a wiki where we can document all these things. I didn't think about chasecamonly doing that since the name doesn't imply this behaviour.

Isn't cvar command only for admins? So if I rent the server, i can't change it anyways.

Oh, well then tell the other admins to also modify their webinterfaces. I'm sure everyone can figure out how to do that and even if not, T3RR0R15T will surely tell everyone who asks nicely what he did since the webinterface was released under the terms of GPL.

I added the default values to the "Change the game variables"-page. So it should be a little bit easier to see if you need to change it or not.

Should there be another new setting in the list?

Yes sqz, I totally agree with you and when this is implemented we will make a clan and bathe in each other's l33t tactics.
