Alright well you can answer this with a couple yes or no's.
I read a few posts and this build 8 thing from what i understand is a new version of paintball2 or am i way off?
Right now I'm still using the q2 version simply because i'm just too used to it. Is it possible to run the standalone version while keeping the q2 version on my computer just in case i don't like the standalone? I don't know why i woudn't but change is hard  after so long.

That's what the new version looks like (yes, build8 is a new version of paintball2).  It doesn't use quake2 at all, so it won't affect the quake2 mod any.  If you don't like it, be sure to state WHY, maybe include some side-by-side screenshots for comparison.

i know how hard it is to change games after you are used to the old one.  i just dl a new ver for a demo and its like night and day really so its hard to change from what you come to know and love to change to a new ver.
