Networking
« on: September 04, 2006, 09:36:59 PM »
Anyone know how I can connect to a network (that I am not on) to play paintball?  I know I can connect to a specific computer in the network, but if I could see everyone hosting a game on the network it would be helpful.

(I ask because I can play in my dormitory network but not in other dorms.)

As far as I can tell, you need to be in the network, or on the internet. It's not that hard to set up a private internet server, there are threads in this forums on how to do it.

I found an answer to my question, if anyone else was interested...

There is a guy that actually put down all the IP's for all the dorms into one list from a master list he got somewhere.  I just have to seta my serverlist to his directory and it scans all ports on campus.
I am thinking anyone who had access to his website would be able to connect to the same school network, but I'm not sure...

Ports would have to be forwarded, what you're talking about is most likely just intranet within the campus.

yeah that sounds about right.

Is there a way to change the parameters that PB automatically pings when you use the join button on the menu?  right now it pings all of the 10.62.x.xxx (which is the one I'm on)  can I have it ping a larger group like the 10.60's and 10.70's?

also:

Is there a way to get a player's IP when you aren't the server?

When you have rcon access to a server and a rcon tool (like ASE --> "F8") you've to type in "status" which will show you the IPs of all players on the server.
