Fov Changing
« on: September 10, 2006, 11:11:51 PM »
I was told this is a simple and easy way to change your fov. I will start with saying what it is. If you type fov 90 in console(~) that is your default. As you raise your fov your  vision of what you see gets bigger. Lots of players use fov 100, fov 110, fov 120. If you go to type fov 110 after using fov 90 for several months your screen, aim, and jumps WILL seem very odd. So instead of going from fov 90 to fov 110. Just add 1 fov every day for 20 days so it feel normal to you. Raising your fovs gives you a better advantage since you can see more at once.

ROFL! TY for that guide.
Also, having a high FOV helps you be able to center a target in your vision easier.
fov 999 ftw!

It was ment for newer players that want to change their fov, but they also dont want to because its hard to get used to.

when youve got a 15 inch monitor, unless you have great vision its hard to go over 100, so fov 91 is dabest

mmm...19" 2MS LCD. Thank you NewEgg.
Apparently some people disliked that its native res is 1280x1024, but that's my favorite, so its all good.

The point is to increase fov by one untill you get used to it.

I my self just got adjusted to fov 105 from 90 and could not adjust right away with out throwing my game off. I will try this until I feel comfortable at a fov in the high 120's . Thanks for the helpful hint that increasing FOV in small increments is a superior method for player willing to learn how to adjust their fov.

The point of this thread after is not 90 fov < 120 fov nor learning what the command is. The point is what is the best way to get there. Gradually is what bix suggests.

Good helpful post. Thanks.

It's all well and good if Paintball2 is the only game you play, but if you switch back and forth between other games that have a hard-set FOV of 90, it doesn't help much...

Tremulous trains you to be open to new FOV's and to be able to adjust to them well.
