Kquery4 and Digital Paintball
« on: September 19, 2006, 04:07:01 PM »
Since Yahoo bought out All-Seeing Eye and the fact they are no longer actively developing it,
I figured I would try to find a new server browser.

I stumbled upon Kquery awhile back while looking for an rcon tool for DP servers, and figured
I would give it a try.  Its extremely fast and I like it, so I figured I'd switch..

The only problem was was that I couldn't figure out how to add the DP serverlist and was
forced to query the entire q2 master then filter it.  Seeing as how its a waste to query over
a thousand servers for only 35-40, I dug a little deeper and found a way to hardcode DP's
serverlist into Kquery..

After installing Kquery4, go to its installation directory and edit menu.txt, and scroll to the
bottom and change the following:

Code: [Select]
      end
   end

end

to

Code: [Select]
      end
   end

      object menu_pball: TTBXItem
         Caption = 'Digital Paintball'
         ImageIndex = 26
         Tag = 1
         Hint = 'webmaster-http://dpball.com/serverlist.php'
      end

end

After that restart Kquery4 and click on Get Servers.. and click the DP Serverlist on the bottom and there you go.

Hrmm did exactly what you said and pasted that in the bottom of menu.txt and I still don't see "Digital Paintball" at the bottom of the list :(

You need to paste it before that last end.. forgot about that.  I'll edit the orignal post.

Make sure the end of menu.txt looks like the 2nd code from the first post.

Yea, the rcon functionality unfortunately doesnt work.

Wish it was entirely GPL'd so I could just change it so it does.

Well I like the way it looks and the buddy section actually works too lol  I like this a lot more than ASE.  I deleted that trash :)

I'll just use this Rcon program instead: http://eliteforce2.filefront.com/file/Rcon_Unlimited;21036#Download.

--- Hey how do you get it to save the windows in the shape you leave them instead of putting them back to default?

 I haven't used KQuery for a while, but about 2 months ago, I used KQuery to do rcon commands on my server.  I think you have to select the HL protocol to make it work.

b00n is correct... The HL setting allows the rcon option to function for DP.  Any idea how to get the windows to stay where you put them within the game?

P.S. Funny...  When I click the "Spell Check" button and complete a spell check, it still pops the spell check window up when I click "Post" forcing me to have to do it again...

Awesome, rcon does work in Kquery.

I tried Kontrol before and it didnt work in it even with the HL protocol.
