Video Capture
« on: September 26, 2006, 07:39:32 PM »
I want to make some videos in paintball. Any good screen captures programs or a program to convert the .dm2 to like .avi?

Use fraps.  If you already have made the demo, just setup fraps to record, and play the demo.

Do your screenshots come out black, too?  I had that problem with my ATI card for a while.  Eventually they fixed the drivers, but it wouldn't surprise me if they broke them again.

Strange.  If screenshots work, video capture should.  Video capture is just a series of screenshots.

Try gamecam instead. It uses less disk space, but has a small watermark and a resolution limit. (this is for any games like fraps)

I'm going to try using AprQ2 in the pball directory and see if it works. Get it here: http://www.kontula.net/muut/q2.movie.faq/aprq2.html

*EDIT* AptQ2 need to be edited to work with pb2 - also, i think KeyGrip works.

$37 is too much for me, piracy of software like that is uncool, which is why I use xvidcap in Linux.

Whenever I try to use Fraps my fps drops to like 7 and I lag really bad.  It also happens when I try to watch a demo with it on.  What is wrong?

Always record from the demo, don't do it live, or you'll suck. Fraps is like almost all video capturing programs, it takes a lot up a lot of your system's resources to run, so try killing other apps that are running and don't need to be, or upgrade your box some.

All video capturing apps will, recording at a lower resolution will help it, upgrading your box would too.

Yeah, I got it to work.  Crash helped me figure out the best settings so it would run smoothly.

Piracy, but you'd have to be a total lamer to do that. Its $37, go sell lemonade or something.

To those whose posts I deleted: please don't support software piracy on the forums.  I don't want to be held responsible.
