so say in the first round you got 6v6 or 7v7.  One guy pulls a rambo and gets the next gun, so now he has a semi-auto or auto and everyone else has pgp still.... Im thinkin that wouldnt work out so well, balance wise.  Even if you dont count idle kills etc.

well if the guy is able to pull off a rambo with a pgp then giving him a semi auto wont matter much will it. or you can even make it so you cant buy a gun for the first 5 rounds or so.

that would be way to one sided. one guy gets lucky the first few rounds, everyone else's history.

I never liked weapon buying.  It tips the balance too much -- giving the more skilled players better weapons while Joe Newbie is perminately stuck with the PGP.  If you make it too easy to buy better equipment (as it is in some of the HL pball mods I've seen), after round 2 or 3 everyone is using full autos all the time, which is extremely lame.

I've considered having 2 styles of gameplay: arcade and realistic.  Arcade would be what we have now -- rediculous physics and item pickups.  Realistic would have a set quota per team for equipment and such.  You could have captain-defined weapon distributions or the like in matches.  Not sure how this would work in pubs.  Realistic would also have more realistic physics and maybe the ability to go prone and lean (which are pointless with the current physics).

Another possibility would be sort of a class-based system:  The more equipment you have, the slower you move.  This probably wouldn't work well because everyone would get the autococker, then just squat somewhere and spray.

Personally I like the arcade feel.  Grabbing equipment is half the game.  I just wish mappers would design item layouts better. :\

k gotcha im gona try two things, 1 a better arcade map, 2 TRY to make a realistic buying map so a barrel will still be alot of money and so will a paintball gun.  there can still be pick ups but you just dont keep them and sure the captin could have admin over it... but i have no clue how to make something likt that when i dont know much c++

The "realistic" mode sounds like an excellent idea, it'd allow CS-style crawling around instead of uber-pumped flying-through-air attacks.

It'd also make smaller maps more playable... By that, I mean new ones to take advantage of the game mode.

I'm curious, though.  If I made this "realistic" mode, would anybody play it, or would it just be a waste of time?  It'd would require much better map designs.  Maps like arctic would have rather stale gameplay (not that they don't already, but this would be worse).

I think it would be appropriate to have a toggle button for falling death when you start a server because some of this excrement is ridiculouse lol

I think the point he's trying to make is that it's rediculous to be able to jump off a 50 story building and live. :)  Maybe if I make a "realistic" mode I won't allow that, but the insanity of the arcade-style is fun. :D

After that, all that you'll need is a small name modification.. thereafter forwarding this site to http://www.digitalpaintball.net... ::)

Well, im with blitz, the day that the gameplay changes. I will leave this community. All of this stuff is ridiculous. I think what should be done is fixing things, tweaking things and maybe just adding some new game modes. If I wanted realistic paintball id go play half life pball.

if i wanted realistic paintball i would not go play half life pball I WOULD GO PLAY REAL PAINTBALL!  i would like dif modes of play you can have server (a) arcade go here to play the arcade move  server (b) come here to play realistic pball. then you can choose what game you would like to play your not forced to play the changes that the maker has made to it.

IF I do it, that's the way it would be.  I'm not going to remove the arcade style.  It would either be a server-side option or a map-specific setting (so you would have to design maps specifically for the realism mode).

Aight dude sup Im here cause I though of possibly the greatest feature and favor anyone who made this game can do.  WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO LEAN LEFT AND RIGHT.  IM TIRED OF HAVING TO RUN AROUND A BUNKER WHEN I CAN LEAN AROUND IT AND IT WILL ADD TO THE REALITY OF PAINTBALL AND SUPAIRBALL MAPS.  ALSO CAN YOU ADD SOME MORE GUNS LIKE AN ANGEL OR AN AKALYMP OR AN IMP OR AN MODEL 98 CUSTOM.  SOME MORE AUTOcockerS SOMETHING NEW.  IT WOULD BE SWEET LATER DUDE.

Aight I know it might take a while.  I wish i knew how to write games.  So ide help.  But Of course I dont so I just play em.  I can write em on calc's pretty easy.  But computer Nah.  I have visual C++ on my computer with all the bells and whistles.  Model makers.  Level editors/creators all that crap.  Never could figure out how to use it even after I read over 600 pages.  Well anyway later
