just wondering, if i change the in-game sounds, is it considered cheating? the sounds like when you pick up the flag, or shoot someone.

you can change the sounds as much as you'd like.  im pretty sure new sounds wont give you an advantage

As already posted twice before (::)), I'm using some CS-sounds. Search in the forums and you'll get the sound-package including death and start sounds.

Sounds that won't give you an advantage (round start sounds, flag grabs, etc.) are OK to change.  Sounds that can give you an advantage (footsteps, weapons firing, etc.) are not.

jitspoe: Didn't you mention implementing footsteps in snow some times? How about using the CS one's, or are they trademarked?

I have recorded footsteps on several different surfaces.  I'll implement them when enough people vote for the feature.

how would foot steps or gun sounds give an advantage? first arnt the footstep sounds played at random regardless of the surface of the player? and all the gun sounds are unique to begin with so i dont know how i could get an advantage that way either.

I don't want to put ideas in people's heads, so I'll just leave it at this: Don't do it.

as of current, i cant play on the public servers (proxied university LAN thing), and when i go back home on break and play i want to know what is considered cheating. that is why im asking so many questions.

when you think about it, 3D sounds would give someone an advantage.  isnt there an option for 3d sounds??? because i dont use them and if someone else is...they have an unfair advantage! HACKERSR#@$R#$ i love you
