Depot Tourney 3 (Survival Edition)
« on: February 23, 2004, 11:44:05 AM »
Here we go for week #3 of the Paint Depot Servers Tournament Series. Weeks 1 and 2 were very succesfull with 22 people in for week 1, and  over 30 players in for week 2. This Saturday we will be doing something special and very different from what you are used to in dp tournaments....

Presenting the Brainstorm Endurance/Survival Tournament.

"What the hell is that, fourth?"... :)

This will be a mammoth game with all participants split between 2 teams. Winners will be judged from 3 categories and 2 players per team per category. The winners of rd 1 will move on to round 2 for a second game on the same map.

Round 1 will be set to a time limit of 45 minutes, maximum score 100 points.
Round 2 will be set to 20 minutes / 50 points.

Three players from game two will win the tournament, 1 from each  category.

Categories...
Caps, flat out the most caps in the game is the gold medal.
Combat, kills * killes / deaths will determine the silver medal.
Defense, this will be voted on by all the players for bronze medal.

Notes...
For all the L0zeRz of round one there will be a 1v1 double elim arenabll tournament held during round 2 of the main tournament. (5 minutes, 20 points).

We will be using a modified ent file for brainstorm (no need to download another map or anything) with spawn equipment to cut down on server lag.

In case of server crash (shhhh) simply reconnect when the server goes back up and we will use the logs to make sure no one's score is erased.

Check in starts at 6pm EST and the tournament commences at 8pm EST.

Are you going to make a special .ent file for this?  What will the elim time be (rounds basically never end with 60-sec elim)?

Oh, you might want to edit the defense category in your first post, FourthX.

Check the notes from the original post regarding the ent file. I was going to use an elim time of  60 so people dont have to sit on thier  thumbs for too long. If the whole game is one long round, at least it will go faster :)

hey i was thinking you are giving out awards 3rd for best defender and so on but why dont you have like first place (so and so) defending sencond place (so and so) defending and so on that way if you think you would be better at defending your not forced to 3rd place because you decide to help your team out and defend.

so you would have like first place caps (got the most caps in the game) 2nd place caps (got the 2nd most caps in the game) 3rd place caps (3rd most caps in the game). first place kills/death (most kills to death %) 2nd place kills/death...   ok i think you get what im going for here.

im just thinking if there are 25-30 on each team thats gonna limit your chances of winning at all unless you defend (somthing that i cant see alot doing).

Easily.  It's just not as easy to get that many to play at the same time.

So what do we have to do to enter this tourney?  Just show up  or something?
