while we're on the topicof rendering...is there any way to force the game to render all players in a server? that would be helpful for demos.

I think a lot of server admins have implemented something like nocheat (Either that or HL itself does it).  It's not that the maps have better vis tables, it's that the server scans to see if players are actually within the line of sight of each other.
