I should delete that post, since it's way off-topic but since I haven't seen you on in a while, it lives.

Thats just listing the players, not requiring them to login.
. . . I was telling him to do that so he could see that 80% of the players in pubs do not login, so it's an horrible i dea right now.

It's not a horrible idea. Look at it this way if 80% of people don't login then what the intercourse is the point in even having a login system. Just require login and and actually put the login server to good use.

Yeah, they should log in, but they dont know how. That would make this game lose like 80% of the people who plays it.

Allot of other games require an account to play. ET:QW, for example, requires you to register before you can even see the server list in-game. Same thing with WarRock.  If people can figure out how to register there, then they should be able to do it in DP too.

Zorch, If you want, and when I get a chance; I'll split off this thread to another to discuss implementing an in-game registration system.  You in?  Also PM me your requirements for your silly menu widget variables.

Sure thing.  I'll PM you today sometime.

Edit: Almost forgot. I'm all for an in-game registering system.

New Request

Regarding: Global Login, Client, Ponies

I vote we add an in-game and global login website messaging system for the sole purpose of communication between Jitspoe and the Committee, and the average players.   This could be used to publish mass-messages such as the release of a new build, or specific messages, for example, why a player has been banned.  I propose that the client-side system could either alert players of new messages upon login, or have a built-in client feature to read messages in-game after log in.  Discussion took place here: http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=10109.0;topicseen, with general consensus that this idea wasn't terrible.

I know all of these votes leave a lot to be desired, so I'm not opposed to others discussing this more in-depth in the pre-vote discussion page.

Heres an idea probably already somewhere on this thing, but i have not read through all of the topic so here it is:
An Auto Update feature that automatically downloads the newest version of DP if a new version is released and you start an old version of DP.  This could be done when y00tz's message idea is displayed, which means connecting to some sort of server, it also checks for a variable that determines if a new update is available. if so, then using a preferably HTML download system updates the user's DP files. This could solve the problem of having people with different builds all connecting to a server.
Tell me if you like this idea, if it needs revising, or scratched all together.
-Cusoman
EDIT: + 1 to y00tz's message idea

I'd rather see an 'update my client' option in game, over an auto-updater any day, as would most people I'm sure.

I was commenting that I'd rather see an option for updating OVER an auto-updater, it's most likely going to be a lot of coding no matter how you look at it.
