Previewing arch in BSP
« on: February 24, 2007, 10:19:19 PM »
For some reason the preview window in BSP for making an arch doesn't work right, I think. I cannot get the brushes in view, only part of it. Am I doing something wrong? Is there some way to fix this? The attached pic shows the most I can see of the preview.

Have you tried clicking the reset view? You probably have, I guess you can play with the buttons until you get it right.

When I hit the reset button it just moves the mesh out of view. It's really annoying. And the Left/Right/In/Out buttons don't do much.

I'd stay away from most of the stuff in the make menu.  It can give you messy results.  It's better to build that stuff up by hand.

Arch by hand... ugh, that would take some time.

Wow, I just noticed something.  n-sided brush and cylinder are not in the make list.  That's not good.

If you use cylinder, you'll have a lot more control.  Then you can just use a clipping plane to slice it in half.  From there you just drag the two brushes on the end down to the desired height  The problem with arch is that it uses a %, not an exact number of units (though you could probably calculate it), so if you try to ever build anything around that arch, it could get ugly and lead to a lot of brush overlapping.

Do you mean this list, or one that I don't know about?

He removed sphere.  Zorch:  Go to help|about and see if you're using .95e.  It's there in .95d.
