Better Preformance
« on: February 28, 2007, 09:28:33 AM »
Ok. Now that i've managed to deal with OpenGL, I have another problem. This computer is old...it has 915mhz...when i play pb it works really rusty. I've probably done anything possible in setup menu, cuz graphic are the worst possible. Is there anything...really anything i can do to make it go smoother? Like programs from net to make comp run faster...or anything in pb that i've missed. And sorry for my bad english.

You probably just need to suck it up and get a new computer.  I don't think you're going to be able to do much on that thing.

my comp. is about 750mhz.  It runs ok, at least until 6+ players are in, then it's gets a little choppy.  I'm using a 64Mb ATI card that runs it pretty well.   You should look into getting a new one.  I paid $50 for that one about 2 years ago, so you should be able to upgrade for a good price. What's your FPS?

I have a Pentium III 866mhz, 128mb RAM and a 64mb Nvidia card and the game runs smoothly almost everytime in 800x600 res, even if there are 16 or more players.

Pd: I have Win98

I'd say it's all in the GFX card and making sure that nothing is eating up your CPU. I've played more intense games than dpball that use OpenGL (Quake 3, Wolf:ET, and WoP) fine on a 333Mhz w/ 128MB ram and 64MB nvidia riva tnt2.

My vid cards run @ 1ghz, so I can kind of relate... But I know it runs fine/great on a P3 933mhz my old roommate had, but I also put an additional 256mb ram (384 total) and an old 9200SE (128mb) video card in, what else do you have in it? Are you using an onboard video card?

2 x BFGTech 7600GT OC (580MHz) = 1.16ghz Core Clock

Nope, I have 1 machine with 2 450mhz cpu's, one with a 2ghz, one with a 1.8ghz and one with a 1.6ghz, but total, they run at 6.3ghz (by your logic :P)

I think he means they're in the same computer, but SLI'd. Even so, that's nowhere near the equivalent of 1ghz.

Fine I'll retract my true statement that my video cards run @ 1ghz total, if you'd like..
And Jitspoe, you're talking about multiple machines.. my cards run together in SLI.
If I counted all my video cards the number would be about 4ghz

Maybe someone should help zeus instead of talking about your computers?

I forget the in-game commands to type in console to raise fps and make your game run better.

Jigsaw: Jitsbro already told him what happened, and to be sure we posted requesting further info.
I don't think he and I were out of line.
