I don't think he should have been fired, even though he did make some pretty bad comments.

I think the whole thing was blown out of proportion by Al Sharpton entering into the situation.

In my opinion Don Imus got the shaft!!!

I totally agree too.

Now, here's what was discussed on our local talk radio show: Group Think (tm)

Essentially what happened here was that a comment ( bad joke), directed towards one specific group of people, offended *others* not associated with the group, hense Group Think (tm).

The thought process is like this:

Someone calls PiCaSSo a cracker.  It doesn't matter if he gets offended or not, but since I'm white, it offends me and other *white* people, even though the comment wsa not directed towards me or them.

Essentually this was a bad joke and played way overboard.  The comments made from the group that was offended ( hint: not the Rutgers girls ) was that it was demeaning to all young African American females.

Great - no problem at all with that, I don't think the comments were appropriate either, BUT WTF ABOUT RAP MUSIC THAT CONTAINS THOSE SAME LYRICS??

You think Al Sharpton and Mr. Jackson are going to do anything about that? HELL NO!!

Hypocrits.....

Sorry, I just had to vent.

No problem with that Knack. That wasn't venting it was more like preaching the truth.

it was demeaning to all young African American females.

Great - no problem at all with that, I don't think the comments were appropriate either, BUT WTF ABOUT RAP MUSIC THAT CONTAINS THOSE SAME LYRICS??

Also the comment was not completely a racist comment since there are white girls on the Rutgers basketball team. It really was more of a sexist comment.

I was talking to somebody and this person told me that "they" (the all powerful they that no one knows) were going to start to "crack down" on music lyrics too.

He deserved it because it was a live radio show. Rap music is known for this, and is therefore labeled or has the parental advisory excrement. That kind of language wasnt acceptable for a live radio show. Get over it, he deserved it.

Ohh, was close :) So where does americans practice their freedom of speech? I hate racism, but does USA have any law aginst spreading words of hate, cause if they do they are sending mixed messages to their people. On one hand he can say whatever he wants (support provided by amandmans) and on the other hand the law (if it exist, and if not it should) says he can´t say what he wants?

nappy haired hoes should be a compliment after seeing jits picture. I'd intercourse that before any of the players on the team.
