New Map: dodged [beta2]

I've done my first map called "dodged".

 Could have alot more details than it has, but even worse thing is that the map is too small to be actually fun. The jail  idea is quite fun and good, but maybe clip brush the wall between 2 jails aswell?

So, my suggestions are:
1. rename the map to dodget_b1.bsp
2. make the map a bit bigger - so you could actually move in that map
3. clip brush the wall in jail
4. add some objects to jail aswell

yeaa.. i wanted to clip brush the jail wall... but... the aim of the map is to kill the living one and not the jailed ;)

Edit:
2 things you may want to fix/look into
1. A single well-primed grenade can eliminate the entire other team immediately, maybe remove grenades?
2. I often spawned facing backwards or sideways, leading to quick elims.

:] ty... and yes i wanted to remove the grens but dunno how to manage it ;) chef told me its a server setting.. not a map setting... the problem with the spawnpoints will be fixed soon :)

Grenades is a server side setting.

If you have admin all you need to type in the console is "grenades <paint or smoke> <#>".

your map isnt bad, real small, but not bad, reminds me of that map jits made ?dodgeball? (think jits made it) where u spawn with pgp and theres a carbine in the middle...

question:

people in the jail portion, can they shoot below, through the spaces in the floor board and shoot the still living?

Ah, revival of the dodgeball clones. :)  I remember when I first released that map, a whole bunch of people made dodgeball style maps.

To remove grenades, you need to set the following in your worldspawn:
"paintgrenades" "-1"
"smokegrenades" "-1"

You could also set "forcejail" "1" if you want to force people to go to the jail area, regardless of their jail settings (tip: you can just open up dodgeball.bsp in a text viewer and see the entity data at the end of the file).

As eiii suggested, you could afford to add some more detail into this map.  The bunkers look like they were hollowed out of a solid chunk of wood.  Try to think of how real bunkers would be constructed -- probably with some kind of frame (maybe 2x4's) with thin sheets of board nailed on.  You might take a look at what I was doing with the arctic_dsm map for ideas:

The tile in the jail areas looks a bit weird.  Perhaps just make them all a single wood texture.  Some occasional support boards running the other way underneath would help the believability a bit, too.  At least a big one in the center.  Also, the divider in the jail -- that texture is boards nailed to something.  With as thin as it is, there's nothing for them to be nailed to.  Might want to think about that, too.

Also, you need to make all the spawns face forward and probably keep them further back so people don't get shot at the round start so easily.

I'll go ahead and put what you have up on the beta server for testing.  Check your PM for details.

I just looked at the screenshots again and seen that this is almost an exact replica of another map except that the jails are in different places. I can't rememeber the map name but it had the walls in the middle, like the first and second screenshots. Then the jail was behind the other teams base and put up like a deck.

No need to try to make this map to be a map everybody plays in pub and stuff like that. Create a new map, which wouldnt be a copy of another map, which would be a new map, a fun map, a good looking, a map with good match play or pub play. Good luck.

Speaking of pbcup_dsm: Will you ever finish that map, or is it one of the many half-way done, cool looking maps that are probably never relased?
