Wow...  I never noticed the glasses, wow that looks amazing sk89q, you should make a full map in that style.

I'd think the glasses would be the ugliest thing '-'

Suggestion on that red tile floor -- I'm not sure if it's the lighting or what, but there's some funky patterns going on with the shades of red that look really weird, especially from a distance.  Perhaps cut and paste some tiles from different sections to mix it up a little bit so you don't have the checkered gradient thing going on -- or was that what the real tiles looked like?  I keep thinking it's some kind of tech texture at a distance - like something you'd see in doom or star trek.

Noted.  I'll add that to the CTP fix list, I've been remodeling my new house... for those who don't know, remodeling is like mapping but in real-life, and thousands of dollars more.

New grass technique =  new grass, and higher resolution.

Ooh, nice. How does it look tiled on a large scale, though?

From player perspective it's quite good, most 1024's tend to be, but anything from there is relative... zoom out a lot, then yeah it'll texture badly, stand a couple player heights above and it's not bad.

Hm, looks like you tiled it and added some color variations.  I think this would work better with RScripts, having one layer be the grass, and another be the color variation.  Then you could have the variation be low res, but scaled large, and it wouldn't have the tiling problem at a distance and you wouldn't be using as much texture memory.

What is possible with rscripts?  My understanding is that it's pretty much shaders?

Specifically could I make a specular map/effect on a skin or texture?  If so that would be amazing...
edit: Is the new model's mask a specular map, and if so is that done via rscripts?

From what I saw rscripts looked like stuff from the OpenGL API so I was intrigued but never caught on.

I think it'd be neat to compile a list of things possible with rscripts so that maybe we could get some common scripts out for people to use in maps...

This is just a quick example.  I took the brick1_1 texture, and put "Mr. Text" on it.

.bsp, .map, textures, and script inside.

Edit:  Oops, forgot the script

I made a texture for my map I am currently working on but it looks very crappy with out the high res texture.  Should I up load everything or what?

I combined two textures.  Get creative.  :P
