How on earth do you sign up for a hotmail account these days?  I just wanted to register a fresh account and see what happened, but it brought me to all this Windows Live! crap and I never could figure out how to even register a new account.

Activation emails work on my current hotmail account, so I'm not sure what's wrong.  You don't get anything in your junk mail folder?

Where's the actual signup, though?  Ah well.  Looking at the accounts, it seems a number of people have been able to activate their accounts with hotmail email addresses, so I guess it does work for most people.

blurtis: I just manually activated your account.  You should be able to log in now.

To signup (I did this to cheat on a Digg) click Sign Up on the link I posted, then you'll be taken to a place where you'll pick a 'Live ID' and then there's a drop down box to choose what domain your email is at... silly though, Hotmail.com is the only option.

Oh, wow, it actually brings me to a sign up page on my home computer.  At work it was giving me a bunch of useless crap that went nowhere.  Weird.

Which reminds me... I know this is very off-topic but for some reason bullets don't work in Internet Explorer (at least at work), why is that?

Because Internet Explorer is broken, probably.

I don't think you can see the bullets in Firefox either.

I am not getting an email either. I signed up about 10 or 15 minutes ago with a users.sf.net account (which forwards it to Yahoo). Posting a test message to both SF.net and Yahoo worked. Perhaps SF.net's spam filter is blocking it and I do not have any access to that. Could you guys please activate it for me?

You got an activation email from the forum but not from the login system?  They both come from the same server, so that's strange.  You sure it's not in yahoo's bulk mail?  I'll activate it anyway.

Come to think of it, I didn't get any email from the forum sign-up. I just could use this account immediately. Weird?
I didn't get any from the login system though. My bulk mail only displays the regular spam. Thanks for your help though!

Ah, perhaps I still have email activation disabled on the forums.  At least that makes a little more sense.

Since this is revived anyway, I just watned to point out:

Oh, wow, it actually brings me to a sign up page on my home computer.  At work it was giving me a bunch of useless crap that went nowhere.  Weird.

Now when you visit: http://get.live.com/mail/overview, you don't sign up for Hotmail service, you 'Get it' :P
