Linux folk, y00tz needs you.

Linux guys, pretend I'm completely new to altering a Linux distribution.. See that wasn't hard!  :P  How can I go about adding and removing stuff from a distribution?  I'm not talking about compiling Linux 2.x kernel, unless I have to, I'm talking about switching around software in a LiveCD distribution.  Thanks.

I do suggest installing apt, it is amazing.
if you had apt, you could use sudo apt-get apt! :)

apt = Advanced Packaging Tool, or APT, is a package management front-end used by Debian GNU/Linux and its derivatives. ?
