You couldn't have created it in paint and saved it as a TGA or PCX, it's not possible.  If you just renamed the file name or something than that's the problem.

If you need a free and easy to use program that saves as those file types you can use gimp: http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

Really?

So if i tried to save it as ch99.pcx, it would change it to ch99.pcx.bmp?

Because that's what I'm seeing right now.

Paint can save in BMP, JPG, and GIF. You'd have to use Gimp or Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or something to save as pcx.
