REQUEST: mouse sensitivity
« on: February 02, 2005, 10:46:12 PM »
hey jitspoe & other devs...

can you please increase the mouse sensitivity?  I am used to playing Quake 3 and other games and am used to playing with a much higher sensitivity level than the current max for build 13...

it would be super helpful for those who are skilled enough to appreciate it ;)

thanks

I don't think there is a max... just type "sensitivity #" at the console.

Yes.  Both q2 and the standalone support it.

Um.  The slide bar is there for you to adjust it?  All it does is change the value of "sensitivity."

Just cusrious as stated previosly not trying to proove you wrong or anything , but this does not add up.

You mentioned that you dont think it does have a max vaule.

The bar has to have a min. value and a max. value, period. That is why it slides and stops at some point.

  1. Did you put a slidebar to adjust the mouse sensitivity in the standalone like q2?

  2. If not, can you excede the q2 slidebar's max vaule by typing the "sensitivity #"cmd to a higher vaule then the default max for q2's slidebar? In either the q2 or the standalone console?

  3. Is the "sensitivity #" cmd dp in the game faq?

  4. I guess the value for q2's sensitivity # cmd can only be 1-999 (or something like that)same as your alpha?

That is not a well known cmd and is very, very useful

Again thinking is not my forte'  I will leave that for you Jitspoe.

My head hurts , now go and find my anwser, please.

1. Yes.
2. The sliders are there for ease of use only.  You can exceed the max values by modifying the cvars directly at the console.
3. I thought you read the faq. ;)  But no, it's not, because it's in the menu, and I don't see a reason to exceed the max value of 20.  It jut makes movement extremely fast and severely reduces your accuracy.
4. Sensitivity is just a multiplier.  It can be pretty much any value you want, even negative if you want to make it inverted.

Higher resolution mice are also a possibility -- faster movement without the precision loss. :)

Look for an optical mouse with a resolution of 800dpi or higher.

Wow.... either your windows mouse settings are really low, or you're one of those people who likes to move the mouse 1mm and turn 180 degrees.
