How about pickups everyday :)
This is how I picture it on a pub server...

PlayerOne: So anyway, PlayerTwo, are you coming to the pickup tonight?
PlayerTwo: Sure thing! I'll be there because thats where everyone cool plays.
newbie: Hey guys, whats this pickup thing you guys talk about?
PlayerOne: A pickup is a daily match game where matches are done, it doesnt matter if you arent in a clan.
newbie: Oh cool! Where can I get more details on this?
PlayerOne and PlayerTwo: On IRC!

An event done by the active community on a daily basis could be easily spread and reach the newbies of the game.

Cobo makes a good point except that we have to find some way to get the newbies integrated into IRC. Spook suggests a way to this here: http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=7374.0link=topic=7374.msg80441#msg80441

in order to have pickups every day, there should be someone in charge to advertise, organize and motivate people to join. noone wants to start a pickup game, but people will join them if they know about it.

I think B/trainee squads are a very good thing to do and might be an important step into moving two "splitted" communities into one. Right now there are about 5 B squads, which should be a total amount of 25-35 people. If only those were integrated into irc and the matching scene, that'd be a good thing.

Paintballs fine.

I agree for the most part.  This pic is from this morning on a Graffiti pub server.  I talked to a few of them, two were from Brazil, and a couple others were from various countries in Europe.  The game is definitely growing in other parts of the world, I just wish it would start to catch on in North America to the same degree (or more).

Considering the pings, I would say that there were only 3 NA's, the rest from EU / whatever.  Score boards like that truely proof that this game is definately not dying.  Though, most of the new players come from Eastern Europe, and at the latest development shows, Brazil.

But when the south americans (brazil and such) start having clans and stuff they will need to rent a server for themself cause they ping 500 on euro servers and 400 on NA servers...

We need to get all these new plyers to irc. :)

Maybe we should add the latest version of mIRC / any other IRC client to the DP Community Edition.

Replace the original download with the Comm. Edition then, or add a mIRC (IRC in general) client to the full version of the game.
Plus, jitspoe should consider editing the IRC page, because it still forwards to ETG, and hardly anybody is there, nor are there any community activities like tounrnaments / pickups.

On IRC people randomly grab a GT Server and will send the IP and password basically to all channels for a pickup game.

Getting up a weekly pickup (or every 8th day, like it was used before) is better in my opinion.
Doing random pcikups will end up in a mass newbie game, with noname(2) switching to the winner team after each round.
