That dll would probably go in the executable folder.
I believe uni had the same problem.

I got it now. I had to put it in Windows\System

Give wings3D a shot it is much easier but very effective.

You just make shapes and move them around and stuff just right click there's a ton of options.

I wouldn't use it. I don't even think you could easily get something made in Google sketch up in DP.

As far as I can tell, it should be possible, but you need to get SketchUp PRO to export to .3DS, and use Blender to convert that to md2 or SKM. So yeah, it's possible, but why waste the money when you can do the same stuff after a 2 hour tutorial in Wings3d?

Yeah i had Sketch up pro before i found it easy to use. But i want to learn wings. Any chance someone can tell me where that tut is?

When I try to open a .3Ds it just says that blender doesn't support that.

You have to import it. Not just 'open it' with blender.

also I keep getting an import error I go import .3Ds and I get an error it says to look in the console and the console says no model named struct.

use MilkShape, you can import a lot of formats, including .3ds, without errors

Wings3d must have come along a ways. It didn't have a uv unwrap tool when I used it. The modeling part was great, though. I never spent much time with blender, but it seemed a little more cumbersome to build things with.

Milkshape doesn't handle bone weights (unless they've added that recently). This doesn't matter for static meshes, but if you ever want to make an animated model, you'll want that (unless you're making a robot with stiff joints).

It has in some ways. It's still a very basic, low-poly modeling tool .. which is why I love it

Install Python.
I remember I also had problems running blender when I first ran it.
