So Windows XP is $300 now?
« on: July 09, 2007, 05:06:20 PM »
I was at one of those typical office stores -- can't remember which one off hand, but something caught my eye: Windows XP and Windows Vista were for sale right next to each other, with Windows XP Professional selling for $299 and Windows Vista Ultimate selling for $269.  Has this always been the case, or have they jacked the price of XP up to make Vista look cheaper?

No.

XP is cheaper than Vista.  I've seen the same thing at Office Depot.  But typicalyl you can't fidn XP on tehshelves at very many places any more.

XP Pro has ALWAYS been $300

XP Home OEM (System builders) = ~$90
XP Pro for OEM (System builders) = ~$130
XP MCE 2005 OEM (SBs) = ~130

XP Home in Store = ~$200 or ~$100 for upgrade
XP Pro in Store = ~300 or ~200 for upgrade

Vista Ultimate = ~350 retail / ~250 upgrade / ~250 OEM
