linux - 64 bit - 0.19 - failed hardware check (Solved)
« on: July 31, 2007, 07:47:23 PM »
Hi.

There seems to be an issue running the latest  build (0.19) in 64bit distros. I have all 32bit compatibility libraries and can run just about anything else - i.e doom3, quake4, et, etc.

The game loads and runs fine but randomly I get throw out with the message

Yossarianuk failed hardware check.

I have the exact same issue in both 64 bit distros i run
- gentoo and kubuntu 64

I have tried running with the linux32 command but get the same result.

It seems fine running on pclinuxos 32bit so I assue its a 64 bit issue ?

The game looks and plays (in 32bit) really well - great fun btw

I can't say whether or not the games runs on vista 64, but 32 I can vouch for.

Just out of curiosity, do you have the 32bit compatible libraries for gcrypt?

Hi.

I didn't have but I have now, I still get the same result..

Btw there isn't a 32 bit package  for kubuntu or gentoo but I have installed the 32b bit libs in /usr/lib32/ using the getlib tool for kubuntu.

Are there any more libs I need ?

Has anyone else managed to run this build in a 64 bit distro ?

I know other people have had problems running it on 64bit linux, but I'm not sure if anybody has gotten it to successfully work.  I don't have a 64bit distro installed, so I can't debug it right now.  You might consider using wine and running the windows version.  The win32 build is a lot more stable.

Hi.

It works 100% o.k except for being randomly thrown out with that message.

I'll just use my 32 bit distro (rather than wine...) to play - I have kept 1 32bit distro in case I had any issues.

So far I have worked out how run everything else in 64bit - including flash, java, games, etc.

I'm sure there will be a solution.

Should I file a bug report?

On sourceforge?  You can if you want to.  I downloaded the 64bit kubuntu last night, so I'll tinker with it as soon as I have time.

Cool - Let me know if you have any other 64 bit issues and I may be able to help you

Have to say Gentoo 64 handles 32bit apps even easier..

Nexuiz 64 bit is quite a bit faster it seems..

Well, I just tried the Kubuntu boot DVD and I couldn't get it to work.  It booted up to xwindows, then sat there with a cursor and a blue background.  The background looked corrupted, too -- funky black spots and lines in it.  I could move the mouse cursor around, but that was it.  Couldn't even ctrl-alt-f1 to get to a console.  I'm downloading regular 64bit ubuntu now.

Had something to do with the video drivers.  I finally got a 64 bit version of Ubuntu up and a 64bit version of paintball2 compiled, but something about the checksum algorithm depends on it being 32bit, I guess.  Every time I try to connect to a server, it says I have different map version.  Also, when I try to play locally, the game shuts down with "Error: Hunk_End:  Could not remap virtual block (2)".  Probably has something to do with 32bit memory allocation. I really need to get an actual install of linux on this machine.  It took quite a while just to get a live cd up and running with all the necessary drivers and libraries.  This is a little more work than I anticipated.

Well, I guess not really, but I was hoping I'd get lucky and pop a cd in, copy the files over, compile it and be done. :)

Hey jitspoe.

Shouldn't this patch - http://dplogin.com/files/clients/linux/paintball2_build019_linux_64bit_patch.tar.gz

Be more prominent on the download page ?

I just downloaded a fresh coy of the linux 0.19 build and needed to reload the patch

Me, you and the other 8 linux players are just lucky that he's even compiling the linux client for each release.
