I like the idea of what was being done in that thread but it seems like there were going to be to many people on this committee for it to be able to serve its purpose.

I agree with kilo, no need to have every single clan send a rep? who are those clans anyway?

I also dont believe we need every single contributor on this board. Idk I like my 15 idea, never gonna tie, and theres no doubt those are the top 6 clans of dp.

15 people sounds like a really big group - that will only work well if all decisions are made by simple majority.
I think the group should be a select few, and best by jitspoe's choice. I know that many won't agree with my words, but honestly, he might still be the one who is leastly biased, and I'm sure he wouldn't pick his own favourites because he is the one who has now started this discussion and wants a group that shows him another side - the side of the community.

I agree that 15 is too much. If everyone wants to debate an issue (which they will, at some point), making a decision will take forever. I think 5-9 is a better number.

Well, there's more than just bans that could be decided by the committee. There are a lot of things that need to be handled on a case by case basis. Things like, "Should player X be given rights to a name when player Y registered it first?", "Should player A be allowed to reuse clan B since it hasn't been active", and similar login related issues crop up fairly often and don't always have a clear cut "right" answer.

with what jitspoe is saying... i think 15 is ideal, you need a popular vote... and 7 or 9 leaves out some developers/moderators or clans, both of which should be equal...

You will rarely get all 15 on at the same time, thats why a forum is the best method of communicating decisions. Thats also too many people to form an efficient decision making process.

Forum-based is just annoying, IRC is more rapid-fire... not trying to flame you but heres my suggestion...

Get the 15, make the channel, and say you need 7-9 there to make a decision... 9 is not too many, and 9 out of 15 you should have more often in a channel, plus idle and its fine..

Im not saying you need all 15 there for a vote, just maybe 8 or 9 or so, but this way theres 15 people in case some dont come or what-not

Of course irc is best in an ideal world, but in this case its just not a viable option (think about records too).

Go private channel... 15 people... its loggable... and forums would get out of control, EVERYONE can post on the forums... all it takes is a private pw-ed channel =D
