Avoid Vista, and get as much RAM as possible. That's about all for budget computers.

Oh, and make sure the hard drive you get isn't crappy. You certainly don't want one of those failing on you.

If you don't need a laptop, don't get one. I've never seen one that lasts more than a year or two without bad things happening. I guess I would go with the middle one, to use with XP.

Acer sucks and I have never even heard of Centauri . So get something decent like a Dell or Gateway or HP.

onboard graphics
Avoid that at all costs.  Get one that has a PCI Express slot, then you can upgrade the video card later.

Avoid that at all costs, unless it's not at all a gaming computer. For just office stuff onboard is fine, but if you plan on playing games then you want a video card.

I noticed this also. If you plan on running Vista you want to have at least 1 GB of RAM.

I think 1 GB was the specification but the more RAM the better. So if you can get 4 GB then do it.
