Alt-Tabbing Into Lag

Is there anyway I can alt-tab out of paintball and not be a laggy mess when i open it back up?
 
Whenever I alt-tab or Start button out of paintball and re-open it i get like 32 fps which is mad annoying from my like 500 before than...
 
Suggestions?

Solution: Don't Alt+Tab or use the Start Button.

Or uncheck the Fullscreen box under Video Options.

i still lag massively when i return after its minimized =\

if your not in full screen then just hit console and your out of the game

make sure you have s_primary 0
also, instead of alt tabbing, try hitting alt+enter, then either alt+tab or bring up the console to free your mouse from the window.  just alt+enter again when you're ready to resume full screen.  i had the same problem as you for awhile, and a vid_restart would always fix it for me (done automatically when you hit alt+enter, but not when you alt+tab)
