Demos/Betas
« on: September 08, 2007, 09:20:08 AM »
With all the new stuff slated to release soon and stuff that has released (BioShock, TF2, UT2k7, QuakeWars, Crysis, etc.) I'd like to make sure I do not miss out on any of the demos or betas.  If you guys could post information (release date, sys reqs, etc.)  or a link to the beta/demo for any new double A or triple A title, it'd be much appreciated.

So the ET:QW demo has been released.  There should be downloads up at filefront/fileplanet/etc. but the main site is down due to traffic.  Multiplay.co.uk has their mirrors up at: http://www.multiplay.co.uk/index.asp?newsid=2230

The nVidia download site works fairly well. I'm getting ~200k/s.

EDIT: Aaaand wtf. File's corrupted.

Wow the ET:QW demo is very light for a demo these days.  By comparison, BioShock was 1.8 GiB.

Also, it's incredibly fun. It takes a while to figure out what does what, exactly, but je l'aime.

My dl-rate was 400 kb/sec from a diff site. Judging from my first impression: Fairly well made.

Crysis Demo Delayed
« Reply #18 on: September 25, 2007, 06:03:35 AM »
Was supposed to launch today, now it's not.

Quote
Crysis demo release date delayed to October 26th

Today some Crysis fan site has announced that the release date for the Crysis demo will be delayed to October 26th
The countdown timer will be fixed right after an official statement by EA Games or Crytek

Here the unconfirmed transcript of the news:

"Hi everyone, we have some news to announce.

First, I am sorry for the bad news - the Crysis single player demo will now be available everywhere on October 26th, 2007.

We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage. To get the game into your hands by November the 16th, we had to make this call.

Now the good news - the big surprise. The SP demo will be released with our CryEngine 2 - Sandbox 2 game editor, giving the community the opportunity to get familiar with the vast amount of tools they will have at their disposal four weeks before we ship, something we have always wanted to do.

This is an exciting time for us at the studio as the development of Crysis comes to an end and we are only a few weeks from Gold Master. We appreciate your patience and are looking forward to getting Crysis into your hands on November 16th. "
