Not unless you have access to the machine the firewall is on, or the network is insanely insanely (i?)unsecure.

Lol.  Those steps boot a command prompt console.  Then hopefully they havn't restricted what you can do with it and do some stuff with it (?).  Also i think firewalls are on each computer, then there is a final one on the server / router (iono) bfore it goes to the net.  You admin friend would have to help you there.

OKAY, THEN! TO CLARIFY.....
The computer you're on now, probably is an average windows computer (unless ur on linux or mac), and you're probably the admin. Say you're not. Is there any way of taking down the firewall? These 3 computers have no firewall apart from the default windows one as they are only in their own 3 comp network. THEY ARE NOT ON ANY SCHOOL SYSTEM. the rest of the school computers are. Is there any way of taking down the firewall (baring in mind that I can get to the command prompt and fully use it)

Then go into Control Panel, Windows Firewall and turn it off.  Also they must connect to something else before they go to the internet.  That there would have a firewall.

To this point if they are on their OWN network they are connected at ANOTHER point with the cables.  If its into the wall then your admin friend will tell you where.  Where the ethernet cables meet up to form the LAN network such as a router in a home, it will have a firewall in it.

1) Like I have said numerous times, I am not the admin, therefore, I cannot turn off the firewall without the admin's password.
2) Like I hjave also said a many number of times, these computers do not have internet access, only a LAN network between them

OK...

1. do these computers have internet access?  If they do, then they are on the school's network.
2. on the schools network = schools firewall/web blocker/proxy.

let me give you an idea of how a typical school network is configured as I've BTDT.

Typicall each school campus is treated as a seperate network segment. Possibly and probably its own vlan if the admins are worth anything. Each campus will typically have a core router, a dns server, probably a small local file/print server, and more than likely a domain controller.

Now, each campus is then tied back in to a centralised location, like the admin buildling, where the email servers, file servers, custom apps are all kept.

From there the admin building is tied to the internet through a firewall, web blocker, proxy server ( these could be all one device or seperate appliances depending on the vendor).  This ensures that all outbound and inbound internet traffic is controled at one single point.

The exception to this are the smaller school districts that might just have dsl server or T1 service and host all or most of their apps on campus, but thsi is rare.

So, evading a proxy or firewall is no longer common at schools.  Every attempt to do so is probably logged as I do here at my office.

Thats just kinda wierd.  I know that the computers ARE not connected to the internet.  But what are they all  connected with?  A switch or a box or something.  Also IF you don't know the admin pass why dont u tell ur Admin Friend to turn it off?  I'm pretty sure the Windows Firewall has nothing to do with it, it should just bring up some warning and you should just tell it to go away.  There is probably a firewall where the 3 computers are connected to each other.

I'm so glad I acquired most of my networking knowledge before routers, ISPs and OSs dumbed it down so that everyone's grandmother can setup a home network.

Just think what it would be like with no firewalls....  I'd shoot myself in the head.  The amount of stupid websites my sister goes to she picks up so many bits of spyware along the way its not funny.  Thats the same with viruses.  Dad sits there for ages telling her not to go there.  I remember she once clicked on one of those Congratulations things and did something to 'my computer' so i didn't let her on there for a while.

My grandparents can't even start the computer without me being there.

Preciseley. They store GCSE courcework for music and not much more. No login (just student and admin), no internet (only cables hooking up the 3 computers)

my old school used to have the tightest security ever and somehow ended up banning the whole of the bbc and google (nothin to do with us searching for ways of getting past the firewall and playing games)

I've asked several times, what are they connected together with?  Eg. Router.

OMFG!! LISTEN 2 ME!! I can't do that because the actual program is blocked by the firewall. someone lock/delete this topic, it's getting stressful. It's obvious that no one knows of a command prompt way of disabling the firewall.

If you don't have a local admin logon on the pc you aren't going to change any settings.

If you don't know the enable or config pw for the firewall/proxy, you aren't going to bypass the WAN firewall/proxy.

I managed to :).  I just ran a Virtual Machine of Linux with a couple of friends.  It was so fun.  If only the BIOS had a backdoor password, then it would be so much more fun.  Remove the admin pass and all of that.  Right now teh computer wont boot of floopys, not that anyone uses em anyway.
