ADMIN requests
« on: July 14, 2005, 09:44:38 PM »
Admin speaks to player violating server rules.

2 things
 1. Let the players know admin is present via admin speaking in chat

 2. Color admins chat

"ADMIN:(LGM)Loial21{WOD} PLEASE RECONNECT"

GLow is not working btw.

"ADMIN(LGM)Loial21{WOD} PLEASE RECONNECT"

GLOW OK NP that is EZ to understand.

" Why?"

Because its expected that you would make a ADMIN messages different then the common chat color. Name a succesful FPS game that does not do this?

Why are most FPS Admins font obvious and or respected  (yes or no format answer) Before and while  the admin warns or kicks

Have you never played games where when the ADMINS speaks colors are resoundingly different then the normal team chat.

JITSPOE MAKE this ADMIN REQUEST SO

I hate run-on paragraphs.

color your chat by yourself, what about that?

If jitspoe were to color admin chats, he would have to ban colored chat for the common user, think about that. Wouldnt be too bad to ban colored names, but most people seem to like that... (banning colored chat would probably include banning colored names...)

What boon said.  People will start faking admin messages with colors and whatnot.  Plus I don't really feel that admins somehow deserve more respect (sounds like a power trip) than other players, and it would get annoying to have brightly colored messages from admins every time they spoke.  All players should respect each other, admin or not.  Admins just have the ability to take action when somebody is causing problems.  Besides, many times admins want to remain low-key.  People act differently when they know an admin is around.  And you can use colors yourself, anyway, for example, at the console type:
say "<ctrl-K>Aplease reconnect!"

Gotya thanks did not think of that. Dont think much period that is the  larger issue however my point was with the server being as full as it was (and it was fun you should have joined) and with people talking and spamming the chat got full and by the time my warning went up there was no way for that player to see it CLEARLY with out having to open up the console to get the WARNING.
Any ideas on how avoid making an admin's warning more noticable and stay longer?  Otherwise its a mute point in my opinion.

Hello?

"Moot" point.

A warning system would be interesting... Or a voting thing. I don't know.

Actually, voting sounds okay.

There's already a warning system.  I dunno about voting as it can be abused (ie, a bunch of trouble makers get together and start voting everyone off the server).

That warning system is useless in my opinion on public servers that are rocking.  think about it public consumption.

What about putting the warning system back to where it belongs, in the middle of the screen.

Good idea never seen that done. I wish he would add different kick settings or something that it.
Example;

1Warn
2Kick
3Temp ban
4Perm ban

But console messages should appear in the middle becuase chat is spammed daily and nightly with recon chat and spam.

Heh, someone else pointed this bug out earlier... though is it really a bug?  Technically you did kill your teammate :)  You just switched teams while your ball was mid-flight.

But what does this have to do with the rest of the thread?
