ViciouZ and I would like to present our newest joint project: the dp2demo2avi web interface. With it, converting your Paintball demos to sharable movie files can be done in three simple steps:

1. Upload demo.
2. Wait some time.
3. Download video.

You can start using it right now with the  online converter hosted by ViciouZ. Only one video can be converted at a time, so be courteous and let others have a chance. This service will be available for two to six hours from the point of this post. In the very near future, we hope we will be able to run this particular server on a dedicated 24/7 system.

If the server's not up, or you're waiting for the current job to finish, you can also see a sample of the output:
Original demo: http://www.planetquake.com/digitalpaint/devel/kungfu2.zip
Converted video: http://www.viciouz.co.uk/other/dp2d2a_web_comp/1190404845-kungfu2.avi

All videos are converted to XviD format. Currently, you cannot set the bitrate. You can, however, set the resolution and the framerates. We will be releasing the source code to our operation soon in case you want to help host this service and help the community. All you need is a computer lying around hooked up with a decent Internet connection. I did the programming for the web interface and the processor. ViciouZ did dp2demo2avi.

Mind you, the current server is hosted on a 5 year old PC in my house with onboard graphics, so currently the video is liable to speed up/act trippy. If anyone else with a better, more capable server would like to host it, PM either me or sk89q, or wait until the source is fully uploaded in a couple hours time or so.

awesome work, nice and convenient.

Might just be me though, but is the sound out of sync on the sample demo?

That's ViciouZ's problem. He can deal with it =D I think it's because the audio recording is done in an imprecise manner. There's nothing to synchronize the frame dump and the audio recording.

It's just a converter. It won't index it on some site.

The audio would work with a better PC. It's because the framerate makes the video go faster. Anyway, pretty much all the DP videos I have seen have music over the top anyway.

No, there's programs for that, like FFmpeg and MEncoder. Or if you're a GUI kitty, SUPER (C).

OK, eventually, after literally hotwiring my old PC, the package is up: http://www.viciouz.co.uk/other/dp2demo2aviweb.zip
