y00tz is a newb
« on: September 30, 2007, 07:02:43 AM »
My server is up and running just fine, I've used the troubleshooter graciously provided by sk89q, and it could connect.

And since I trust XtremeBain, KnacK, Eiii and Sk89q more than I would a router manual, can someone help me figure out why when I heartbeat, the port is 50xxx

My original thought is that in my DSL modem configuration is doing something screwy with the ports.

For example, there is an unchangeable setting of "Start NAPT ports at 50000"  and in my rule entries for NAT (port forwarding) rule number 1 is to filter any incoming requests to NAPT...   do my other rule entries supersede that if they are more specific (i.e. in this case, filter 27910 udp to this IP..)

Edit:  Deleting the original entry renders the internet completely dead.  Also, I've followed the port forwarding guides exactly, but feel free to ask questions about obvious stuff I could have missed.

Thanks and Good luck,
y00tz

Can provide more information if necesary.

My setup is a Zoom ADSL 5X and a Linksys WRT54GS

do you specify a port in your startup config? +set port 27910 ?
If this is a seperate pc that your workstation then only port forward 27900 - 27930 from the itnernet back and fort to that given internal pc ip address.

Yep.

It IS a separate PC.  The server local IP is 192.168.1.102, and the IP is only forwarded for the server.  It is however only forward for 27900 - 27920.

Thanks Chris,

ALso,

Make sure that you have the latest firmware in your router and that the ports you are forwarded are UDP and not just tcp.

Make sure they are both way as well.

Been too busy, I actually disconnected from the router and plugged directly to the modem (it has four ports).  Thanks for the help Chris, I'll get screenies up ASAP.  Studying for a math 450 test at the moment.
