Opinions.

Not a huge fan of either but rugby players would get hurt alot more and alot worse than those in American football because they have much, much less equipment.
Also I believe in rugby you have to kick the ground before you kick the ball so if you dont know how to kick well then you could easily sprain an ankle.
-
American football. Just look at the size comparison and the skill they have over rugby players. Can anybody find out the number of injuries in rugby compared to football?
-
JUst in case you didn't realize my thing about injuries was saying American Football is better because of less and less serious injuries.
-
I'd say American Football. I watched Australian Rugby, and sure they do take hits and don't wear pads... but even Sapp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Sapp) could completely paralyze any of them.
Edit: I never much understood rugby... for example, why is the guy in the first picture, hugging the other guy's butt?
-
American football is superior of course. They were pads because there are such big athletes playing. No reason to wear pads when you have just a bunch of skinny white boys running around.
-
Maybe you guys should actually watch Rugby before forming judgement? You actually sound pretty dumb from what you're saying.
And btw, American Football is obviously better, and is totally respected by countries other than America. As a sportsman, I actually have respect for the American Football Pro's, but the fans, thats more like pity.
-
Rugby all the way.
We got screwed out of the world cup this year, That was blatantly a try...

there is some pretty big rugby players
but i still think football is better because i think it is the most strategic game there is. rugby though is pretty cool to watch but i dont understand it. in rugby i think there is more respect for eachother. people dont run around trying to hurt people, they run around and make contact but only enough to get the job done.
-
Just because its the most strategic doesn't mean its better. Its really hard for me to accept American sports as appealing due to the fact there is almost non-existent support for them outside of north america. If they were that superior, surely they would be globally more popular...
If you want a real sport, take a look at football, there is nothing that comes close to it.
-
Neither, because both of those sports involve homo men touching and kicking each others coinslot.Just look at rugby pic one and American football pic one. :P

You mean soccer, right? :D

What was dumb about what I said?
Also the only readon football/soccer is so popular is because all you need is a ball the posts could just be hats or rocks or sticks anything really.
Where as other sports you need much more like in hockey you need a puck, skates, a stick, puck and ice.
-
Lekky is right, football all the way, but not American football. Football is popular because it takes a total athlete to be good at the game, its more than just sheer physical performance, it requires skill and incredible intelligence to be a great in the game. Also, its so easy on the eye, so fast, and so exciting.
I've watched both games, and follow neither, but rugby is by far the better game to watch in my opinion. American football is too stop start, and theres no real spontaneity to the game. For the casual fan I think rugby is much easier to pick up aswell.
-
We dont really get rugby on TV around here hence the reason I hardly ever watch it also the only time I watch American Football is the Super Bowl.

You will also get screwed on Wednesday on Wembley ;)
-
Maybe, but if we do qualify we'll still be bigger favourites than Croatia :D
-
>:(
-
And who is the best player playing in england right now?
Cristiano Ronaldo.
-
The only screwing the Croat team will be doing will be while crying with their boyfriends after we teach then how to play football.
Yeah, you showed us in Croatia how to play. GG Neville and Robinson!
Like admit it, you were just to cocky about this qualifications. Israel and Russia are also strong teams, England haven't done anything since 1994 /we haven't since 1998 also). Loose McClaren and you'll be good.
And yes, Croatia lost yesterday against Macedonia on their terrain (match should not be played, it was more mudball than football) but still, we have qualified and have most points in our stage group, so shhhhhhhhhh.

The whole world hopes so :) umm, at least all of Germany 8)
-
>:(
-
how could anyone be scared of England right now? It's just way to much fun chanting "Ohne England fahr'n wir zur EM" in the streets :)
-
I prefer playing croatia also. Maybe they will be a challenge
Portugal has been beating england since 2000 or so..
-
Lets be honest here, Crotia, Germany nor England are going to win the Euro's.
I dont think England were too roosterey at all, we knew we were in for a challenge, I think the problem with England is that there is immense pressure on the players. Everybody expects England to win things because of the quality of their players, but they buckle under pressure to the weaker teams, especially in the finals.
And Portugal beat us on penalties mostly, but i'm pretty sure we wouldve beaten Greece in the final, especially on our home ground.

This is getting warm here. :D
I posted that just to piss lekky off mate (my prefered hobby)

biggest campers won the last World Championships as well (Italy) - CAMPERS! LINERS! CHEATERS! :D
-
>:(
-
The only thing you won was a world champonship in 1966.
In wich you got through semi-finals by cheating. (Only way to beat a team with the best player from all time)
But i guess you didnt learn that at school...kid. :D
-
How many gold stars are on the Portugese shirt? :D
-
No idea what that is :(
-
Rugby. I haven't watched it it, but it can't possibly be any less dull than American football.
Play for 10 seconds.
Take a break.
Play for 10 seconds.
Take a break.
I guess golf is duller, if you could even consider that a sport.
-
you guys should watch hockey...fastest sport, except for like, bobsled
-
between the two i'd say american football is better to watch. players just look cooler. :P but i dont watch it as much as i used to. i watch soccer (the real football) whenever i can.
-

I'd give you +1 if only you called it the real football with soccer in ().
;)

Exactly, and to comment on a point someone made earlier about it being a better sport as it was more strategic. I guess you Americans LOVE the Chess World Championships eh, real men grrr.
-
I don't really watch football unless I have some huge interest in it, so I end up seeing 3/4 games a year, and occasionally watch one where there's nothing to see on TV. I never just watch football, though. As jits pointed out, there's not enough consistent action to actually merit putting all my attention on that game. I'm usually doing something on the computer at the same time. That aside, I do think it's my favorite sport. There is definitely strategy, and some of the plays that are pulled off are really pretty well thought-out. It wouldn't be anywhere as good, of course, without replays after each play so you can actually SEE what one team did to break through or what the other did to hold them back. Compared to basketball or soccer, where 'plays' and strategies just kind of fall into place/form on the fly, it interests me much more.
-

Had to put it that way so most of my fellow americans would understand. :P
The reason for my love of the sport is because unlike many people I have spent most of my life in other countries and haven't been "stateside" most of my life.
-
OHNE ENGLAND FAHR'N WIR ZUR EM !! :)
-
If you want to see something tough out of football than watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LMB4DnroeI&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LMB4DnroeI&feature=related)
Watch the guy take of his helmet and wack the guy in the head! :P
Holy fudge right?
-
in my opinion, rugby is better, though in defence i've never actually watched american football.
but two of the best sports in the world, gaelic football and hurling ;)
-
Both suck, only one true sport in the world.

Cricket

Cricket
Yes

Cricket
Fail version of baseball.
-
Lol @ baseball, at least cricket is played in more than 1 country.
-
baseball is played in lots of countries.
USA, Canada, Japan, Venezuela, Cuba, Portugal, Dominican and many more. England doesn't play it because they don't get much sun, thus making everyone in the country depressed and then they try to commit suicide by boring them selves to death by watch soccer, which by the way, is not a sport. Its more like a spelling b, sure they may be talented, but who the intercourse cares.
-

Probably the 208 member states of FIFA, I could list all the countries that play football like you did with baseball, but it would take me a lot longer than the 10 seconds it took you! :D
We may get depressed with our weather, but the fact we are not American gets us through the dreary days :P (ps your womens footballers are hotter than ours i'll give you that)

I do like American football though.
