Can some1 make a random map generator so when no1 decides on a map you can just !tie and have a random map that will be played?
-
awesome idea. y00tz and viciouz.... you now have a goal in life. Get busy and stop procrastinating.
-
Alright, I'll take this one.
How do you want the map pool to work?
- One big pool containing all maps that are accepted as tie maps
- 5, 10, X maps in the pool each month/week they change
- A small group of fixed maps (changed infrequently)
This will be on IRC, the command will take the two already played maps and be something like:
!tiemap castle1 midnight
-
!tiemap castle1 midnight
When you type this would it be possible to make it so it selects a map of a similar size?
-
or even simply each put forward 2-3 choices, and it randomly selects one of them?

That sounds better. Solves arguments between the two teams.
-
[09:04pm] <@KnacK> !8ball what tie map?
[09:04pm] <@ChanServ> KnacK: It won't happen, not a chance, definitely no.
-
Or we could not let the future of deciding tie maps be held in the tiny virtual hands of a robot.
-
Every time you have a tie you should have to go to #DPCommittee and have them vote on a map for you to play. :P
-
Finish the match next month. Good idea.
-
would be nice to just go on mIRC type !tiemap and a random map pop up. and play it. Solves issues with having to argue for 30 more minutes on which tie map to play. or !tiemap c1 pp1 and it wont choose either of them, b/c you already played it.. Was just an idea. but would be nice to have something like this.
-
Like the idea, i was on playing i cant remember which clan a while ago and we were there for about 20 minutes just deciding the tie map. In irc, even better.
-
Yeah, like lekky suggested. Both teams suggest 2 maps, then you go to some irc channel and type !tiemap map1 map2 map3 map4 and it gives a random map of those 4. Could also be done with the server (!tieserver euro na)
-
That could solve many, many problems.
-
The tiemap generator should pull from a list of newely created/not much played maps. This would sort out as to making it a fair decision. I mean, it's hardly fair if the tiemap generator pulls out a propaint1 or some other commonly used home map.
-
heh i am currently working on a sorta clan database for mIRC that will handle clan matches and it will have a list of tie maps that is randomly choosed and it can be veto'd i dont know if people will want to actaully use it though soo im not in to much of a hurry to get it done.
-
I kind of like the current method. I can only think of a couple of times that it really went that long...and certainly not 30 minutes.
Perhaps being a less competitive clan makes a difference that way.

FsTz Takes for ever to agree on maps :D This would be great.
-
This is why people should pick the maps out before the match. :P

Truth
-
Or people should just be able to !tie on mirc and get a map ^_^
-
yup.. Make it real simple so there is no arguing. If you put too many features then people will manipulate it.
-
I'll set a bot up right now. Simply go to #paintball and type !tie to receive a randomly generated map. It will pull from a large majority of commonly played maps, and not so common maps, that are well constructed. (And as soon as Xbain makes his, and it's 10x better than mine, I'll just remove mine so I don't embarrass myself too much :D )
-
I just want some feedback from players first, because I know if I just simply pick a group of maps people are bound to call it unfair or simply that I pick terrible maps.
I don't want to make it overly complicated but it needs to be a little more fair than "I just typed !tie and it said we have to play propaint1 or you forfeit".
-
Yeah, I'm going to set it up with the features !tie 2v2, 3v3, etc. And I'm going to hand-pick 20ish maps for it. I guess it will be a beta test of it to see if people even like the idea.
-
I like the idea of '!tie map1 map2', and have one group of maps that are all suitable for 3v3-5v5.
-
what about like '!tie map1 map2 3v3' and the 3v3 goes up to 5v5 and it'll give you a map that's good for that amount of players absed off of the size... if it's possible...
-
I don't really think I'm understanding what you're proposing Xbain, is it randomly choosing between the two maps that the person suggests? Such as: "!tie propaint1 castle1", "Castle1 is now your tiemap!". Or that The generator suggests two maps to be played, and the teams fight it out amongst themselves? Or am I completely missing the picture :-\
-
Team A picks castle1, Team B picks propaint1. At that time there are 10 different maps in the map pool. A player types !tie castle1 propaint1 and the bot randomly picks a map from the 10 that is not castle1 or propaint1.
-
how about team each pick 3
than randomize them
?
-
That can work too. But then it becomes whoever can get luckier, and get ones of their favourtie maps played. The other way it has a fairer chance of having a map both teams have played the same, leaving everything to raw talent.
-
I wouldn't use this bot. Sounds pretty stupid to me. Why not just decide in game or before the match?
-
Well if you were euro, you would have to match all these czech newbies who refuse to play anything else but shock.
-
Alright, I have the bot set up (for now) in #paintball. Type !tie 2v2, 3v3, etc to get a tie map. Enjoy :)
-
The way it should work to make it fair across the board and force teams to learn more maps is to have a random 3 to 4 maps each month for each size of match. For instance....
1st month for 2v2 or 3v3 have small to medium maps like pbcup, back2back, disaster, and shaz22. For a 4v4 or 5v5 have larger maps such as pbcup sandassualt, renoir, shaz33 and the likes. Make it straight random. If you leave it to random chance then neither team can really complain. It all boils down to how hard each team practices. With switching maps once a month or every two weeks the teams that are willing to go the extra step to work together and learn them will have the advantage. If you allow teams to input which maps they want then there will be complaining and excuses. Make it completely random. Too easy.
-
I think Xtremebain's idea would be the best overall.
-
Olbaid it is up, just take me off your ignore list.
-
This is why people should pick the maps out before the match. :P
Don't see the difference in spending 1h before or 1h after the first 2 maps tbh, in fact if it doesnt get to a tie map you've still wasted 1h that you wouldnt with the general current way of doing it!
-
If you decide before the match you won't waste an hour.
-
It still takes the same amount of time to decide...
-
Olbaid it is up, just take me off your ignore list.
Rather not.
-
Whenever I've decided on a tie map with someone before the match it has never been more than like five minutes because everyone wants to start playing.
-
!tie takes only 3 seconds :D
-
Either way, this sounds retarded to me and I won't use it.
-
Or you guys could just win your first two maps and not need a tie.

I know exactly what your saying: Ties are for father's day.
